Personally, I don't see any reason it shouldn't be merged. The topic of Best comic... doesn't really deviate far enough from the expansive coverage of The Comic Book Thread to really hold its own.

Uncanny X-Force

It really is quite good. I've been following it from the start and it just keeps getting better. Best series Marvel has done in years.

Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage - I know that this story is the bane of all comic fans that hate the 90s. But I was growing up in the 90s, so I'm fond of the era. I'm especially fond of Carnage & Venom and this story had both, along with some fine Mark Bagley artwork.

Best Ongoings Currently Running:

-Action Comics - It's only 2 issues in, but so far I've been sucked right it. With the last few duds Morrison had been putting out, I was seriously doubting his ability. This series is giving me hope that the Morrison of old (JLA, New X-Men) might be back!

-DC Universe Online Legends - Seriously, this comic is awesome. Huge battles, big villains and heroes, great artwork. And what's most surprising about it all, is that it's a tie-in promotional comic.

-Green Lantern - I've been a HUGE Green Lantern fan since the early 90s. And Geoff Johns is my favorite comic book writer. So the 2 of them together is a fanboy dream come true for me.

-Uncanny X-Force - The Dark Angel Saga has been incredible from beginning to end, especially the visit to The Age of Apocalypse. I can't wait for the final throwdown between The Uncanny Force and Dark Angel/Apocalypse's forces.

Best Comic Storylines of All-Time:

-The Crisis on Infinite Earths - DC Comics first, and IMO, best crossover event. Major characters died, while others were debuted. Entire worlds died, literally. It was the end of one era, and the beginning of new era. And nothing (and this isn't a comic cliche this time), and I mean nothing in the DC Universe was ever the same.

-The Death and Return of Superman - I was about 10 years old when this happened. So I was the PERFECT age for all the hype and hoopla to pull my naive mind right in. And I was glad it happened. The story opens with an all-out slugfest between Superman & Doomsday and the JLA is sound defeated. Both Doomsday and Superman end up dead when the smoke clears. And that's where the story really picks up. 4 men appear claiming to be Superman. Which one really is, if any of them? Witness the birth of one of Superman's greatest enemies, and some of his greatest allies in the aftermath of his dead.

-House of M - It was a dark time for the Marvel Universe. The Avengers had just disbanded because of the loss of The Avengers' Mansion and more than one members' death, at the hands of one of their own: Scarlet Witch who was suffering from a nervous breakdown and out of control powers. Magneto and Xavier have tried their best to help her, and failed. It has come to the point of debating whether she should stay alive or not due to the cost of keeping reality intact. Suddenly the world goes white, and is replaced with another. A reality where Mutants are no longer hounded and persecuted, a reality where Wolverine and Mystique are successful SHIELD agents, a reality where Spider-Man is loved by the public, and a reality where Magneto rules. Nothing is the same, but only a select few realize this and it's up to them to set things right...only do they want to? Everyone seems to have gotten what they wanted in this world.

-JLA: Grant Morrison's ENTIRE Run from the late 90s - Grant Morrison crafted the perfect run on JLA. Nobody before or since has topped his run, IMO. Every storyline was epic: The White Martians, Rock of Ages, JLA/JSA: Crisis Times Five, World War III; all just superb. And a return to the REAL JLA was just what we needed after a string of HORRIBLE JLA teams in the 90s.

-JSA - It's hard to pinpoint one exact story as being better than the rest. All I know is that from 1999 to about 2003 everything in this book was pure super-hero gold. I was always entertained from cover to cover and couldn't wait for the next issue. Geoff Johns really shined on this series and is what launched him to the superstar status he now has as DC Comics.

-Kingdom Come - This is an Elseworlds story that takes place in the possible future of the DC Universe. Superman accidently causes the death of millions in a battle against a super-villain, and he must witness the death of Lois at the hands of the Joker, as a result he exiles himself from active duty. In the years that pass superhumans become more prevalent and more careless in their battles, regularly placing people in danger with no regard to their safety. Reluctantly a hardened, bittered, and older Superman returns from exile to make the world safe again. He gathers other old heroes and some new ones to his cause. This eventually leads to a clash of superhumans unlike any other. Lots of surprises and uncannily realistic artwork from Alex Ross in this one.

-Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage - I know that this story is the bane of all comic fans that hate the 90s. But I was growing up in the 90s, so I'm fond of the era. I'm especially fond of Carnage & Venom and this story had both, along with some fine Mark Bagley artwork.

-The Ultimates 1 & Ultimates 2 - A very satisfying read, with very realistic artwork, and a very adult (not in the porn sense, perverts) take on The Avengers. A must read for ANY fan of the Marvel Universe and/or Avengers. So many moments where you say "Holy Crap!" out loud.

-X-Men: The Age of Apocalypse - This is one of the most memorable storylines in all of comics for me, and I'm not even a big X-Men fan. The way it was executed when it happened by replacing the ongoings and Legion Quest before it setting it up was perfect. The artwork was draw-dropping. And the story was simply epic.

Can't believe I didn't include the best Green Lantern stories, since GL is my favorite comic:

-Green Lantern: Emerald Twilight - Hal Jordan goes off the deep end after his hometown is destroyed by The Cyborg Superman (see The Death & Return of Superman). The Guardians refuse to let Hal use his powers to resurrect the city, as it's against GL Code of Conduct. Hal makes a B-Line to Oa, destroying any GLs in his way and adding their power to his own. A final standoff, the return of Sinestro, the destruction of the GL Corps, the birth of Parallax, and the beginning of Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern.

-Green Lantern: Rebirth - The incredible return of Hal Jordan as a GL, Parallax as a -villain, Sinestro as a villain, and Guy Gardner as a GL. Also the groundwork laid for the return of the Green Lantern Corps and The Sinestro Corps War. Executed excellently. This is the beginning of Geoff Johns' epic run on Green Lantern that is surprisingly still continuing to this day.

-Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War - The best Green Lantern story I have EVER read. An epic battle between the Green Lantern Corps and the Sinestro Corps waged on Earth and the Planet Oa (GL homebase). Witness deaths, grand battles, and the birth of Ion. Plus The Cyborg Superman and Superboy-Prime (from Infinite Crisis) join the fray on the side of the devils. More Geoff Johns greatness here.

I gotta give a heads up to Batgirl; personally I love Gail Simone's work and Babs has always been the best Batgirl in my book! It also helps that Adam Hughes is doing the covers.

Still my favorite of all the new 52 books that I've read so far, but there's still a few I haven't really read yet. Heck, I'm still in the process of buying and reading those number ones and already a bunch of issue number twos have come out. 52 is a lot of books DC! Geez! Anyway, based on what I've read so far, I'd rank Simone's Batgirl my personal favorite of the New 52 with Snyder's Batman a very close # 2. That's not to say that I think that Batgirl is better than the Batman book, just that I've had a little more fun with Simone's take on Babs. I really, really like what I've read in Batman issues 1 and 2 though and think this will be an awesome run.

All Star Western would be my third favorite new 52 book so far, though I haven't read the second issue yet(assuming it's even out yet). Issue 1 was excellent though and I have no complaints about the higher price point. Arkham is such a perfect way to introduce Jonah to new readers and I'm curious to see what we learn about Arkham himself as well
