Good call. There's not much out there that really fits the definition of criticism yet. There's no Ebert or Maltin of video games.General_Norris wrote:I also think they are comics, not actual critics.

I got to say that my current favorite has to be Clan of the Gray Wolf's 16-Bit Gems. Dude convinced me to buy the Lufia games. I also like Game Theories. Not a review show but extremely smart and funny. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=552iTUDw ... lf=mh_lolz
Oh and speaking of RetrowareTV I also like the Game Historian.

Character actors. Both would more than likely stink up the stand up stage, as you don't get to make 100 edits for each take.

Does comic imply stand-up? I thought it was more generic than "comedian". In any case the main appeal is humorous, not informational.

Comic and comedian are synonimous. Both refer to someone who works in a comedy, including writers and actors.Hatta wrote:Does comic imply stand-up? I thought it was more generic than "comedian"

I agree. I enjoy The Irate Gamer. I like the recurring characters, and his jokes are little more thought out than the normal poop and fart jokes and rampant cussing that frequents The Angry Video Game Nerd's reviews (but I enjoy AVGN too, don't get me wrong here). I just wish we'd get more than 2 episodes per year from IG.AznKhmerBoi wrote:i like enjoy all reviewers i dont know why there is so much hate on the irater gamer though. I feel bad for him

Yeah, I watch CGR nearly on a daily basis. It's like my gaming news of the day. They other channel, CGR Undertow, is pretty good too. At least Derek and Kevin are great on there.galaxy_ranger wrote:Classic Game Room is just awesome. I found his review of the Nintendo DS' Dark Spire sometime last year on youtube, and not only was it absolutely hilarious, it's actually what got me into retro gaming. Not that the Dark Spire is an old game, but it's designed to mimic the very old D&D style RPG games. I Realized that if I wanted more hard RPGs like the Dark Spire there were some good choices with the older systems.
Always going to be a fan of that Mark and his team out there, and it would be awesome if the CGR was added to the poll choices.

Has anyone heard of The Spoony Experiment? He reviews games and cheesy movies. He's pretty good, too. But I think more than anything I like his created character Dr. Insano...SCIENCE!

I like to watch his videos from time to time. I don't agree with his opinion a lot of the time but I think he can be pretty funny. I saw his Let's Plays a couple years ago and they were the only LPs at the time I actually enjoyed watching enough to watch the whole way through because his reactions were often really funny.BurningDoom wrote:Has anyone heard of The Spoony Experiment? Re: Biggest Online Reviewers Who do you prefer ?
This is picking nits, but writers wayyyy more prefer to be called writers than comedians, even if they write comedies. It's like there is a caste system in the comedy world. People like Colbert, Conan, and Harold Ramis will always rather be preferred to be called writers over "comics".General_Norris wrote:Comic and comedian are synonimous.
