Would this game work offline? (No connection to Mapquest, eMail, etc.)
I can only imagine this being played if the game's servers are still up (to send you clues).
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

No, you need the internet to play. Unless you are okay with using a walkthrough, but that really defeats the purpose of this game. I started it up today and so far everything has been working fine. Though the first site mentioned right on the box didn't work (www.jackandkaren.info) I viewed a cached version from The Way Back Machine and it appeared to simply be a subtle promotional site for the US launch of the game, everything ingame has worked, though Im not sure if the emails have been coming as regularly as they should be.

Also worth noting is that to actually start the game I first had to track down a patch that fixed email registration, otherwise it would just tell me the servers couldn't be contacted. But the patch fixed that no problem, had something to do with changing how they handled emails on the server or something.

I don't know yet but I'll boot it up later tonight on my windows 7 partition to test it out for ya.

I use Windows Vista 64-bit. Generally if it will work on Vista 64, it will work on Win 7.

Make sure you check your junk-mail and spam filters. Messages can get lost that way.

Just grab the patch at the bottom of this page. You should be good to go after installing that.

Im having a problem installing that patch... everytime i start the exe file it just shows a small window saying ''initialising instalation wizard'' or something like that and then disappears and nothing happens..... I downloaded the patch from couple of websites and none work. If anyone knows I would apreciate some help please.
[edit]
Holy crap that worked.
Okay I used Universal Extractor to unpack one of the patches and copied the resulting .cxt files into the right In Memoriam folder.
The unpacker gave me the right folders so it was pretty simple.
If you guys ever come back I hope this is of use!

But now I can't use my email address because it's already registered! Ah well at least I can play
I did what he did and got the file and put it in "\Media\Dir\Cst", this works. I also included the file in a zip.

So you got it to work? I really need to get back into this game. Was a ton of fun, but of course I just keep buying more games.

I feel like its one of those games were everyone thinks its great in concept simply because the concept is so original, but it faulters on execution.
