idea: flashing PS1 PIC's Updated: new idea

Post by korn16ftl3 »

if i were to buy a PIC programmer and the PIC's for programming as a PS1 mod chip, would there be people here interested in them?

i have been thinking about doing this for some time now just havent found a place there would be much of a demand for them

i would also send out samples to end users with a different array model PS1's for testing (so i know i programmed them right and they work tho it should be really simple)

so ya some feed back on if this is it a good idea or not would be kool

as always thanks for reading :D

There is not a big demand for PS1 chips.
I would know, I'm sitting on 200+ PS1 chips
PSone, Xbox, PS2, DC, SS Mod Service, PM for details

not sure i know i can do the switchless region free mod for a saturn aas that uses a PIC programmer as well but im unsure if th code for a saturn chip can be written to a PIC or not....if it could i would imagine that is how they (modchips) would be sold these days (like the PS1/PSX chips) just as a PIC chip pre-wired

good idea tho i need to do 1 thing at a time as to not get confused and mess something up ;)

i figured as much but like i said above the same PIC programmer can ALSO program the PIC need'd for the saturn region free switchless mod so that is 2 chips i can program with 1 programmer

region free isn't a big deal on saturn, playing burned games is.

why is that? from what i have read the AR's screw up the expansion slots in the saturns due to the cart card being made to thick, and i am aware that you can patch the disc image to NTSC but from what i have read results vary on that as well

Region free is a big deal, if you are a collector.
Only reason i mod my systems is to make them region free to play all my retail Domestic and Imports games.

i chip for ease of access to games that are pain to find as well as to check out other games eventually it leads to adding games that i really like to my collection

on a side note....i think Dreamcast is also a PIC based chip i should look into that as well...the question is the HEX that needs to be programmed onto the PIC available some where
