Gold and Silver both work well with blue so it's easy to go either way. If only we could get some spot colour printing going and actually do some metallic inks!

I was gonna try a silver version too. I got the gold idea from the Million Seller SNES carts.

I even got a ribbon that looks similar to that one, but it wasn't working out with the placement.

I kinda like the gold, but I figure I have a little less than a month to play with it before we settle on something. There's also the possibility of doing more than one version, if I get the chance to make more than one game.

If you do more than one game, id keep the template the same between them. Gives the whole project an air of professionalism. Kinda like they are part of a set. Although perhaps you could invert the colours on the second one, a black cart with blue stripes.

Yeah, you're right. Keeping them same gives it a nice touch. Maybe one cart can have gold writing while the other has silver or something like that.

I was working on a Genesis label. Still not sure what cart(s) I'm gonna be making, but Genesis carts are usually pretty easy to do. The labels are harder to come up with ideas for though. I'll post a couple rush jobs when I get the chance.

Also, does any one have any opinions on the SNES back labels that I posted a couple pages back?

Yeah, it looks like Sub Zero made that text. When I get a font idea in my head, I can never seem to find exactly what I'm picturing. But again, it's just a quick job to get a starting point. I wanted to have SPECIAL EDITION be electrified, possibly with electric bolts running through it and out the sides. But aside from that, I think the overall design isn't bad, it'll just have to be spruced up a bit.

And by the way, IS this the third annual charity auction? And what do you guys think of the wording? I like "Racketboy 2011 Charity Auction" on the front. But what do you guys think of "Special Edition: Racketboy Third Annual Charity Auction" for the back? Maybe "Third Annual Racketboy Charity Auction" is better worded?

One thing I realized, I don't think the checker pattern is gonna work. It cool that it matches the site and everything, but I don't see it looking good once it's printed out. I can print decent quality, but I don't have the best printer in the world. I see it coming out looking like my printer was running out of black ink instead of looking good.

I just messed around with the back label a little more. Again, a rush job, just to get visuals. For example, it's only centered by eye (and not actually on center). But yeah, I think I'm on the right road. I'll still find a better "Special Edition" font to use, but I really like the lightening bolt going through it. Also, I think the blue ribbon should be under "Charity Auction" instead of "Third Annual," and also, it would look better under the Racketboy logo rather than over. But I thought of this just now, I'll mess with that later.

I could use SFC carts, but I think more people would be into the NTSC-U carts.

Here's the Genesis label I've got...

Again, my same thoughts about the black checkers. I could either make that solid black, or a darker shade of blue (the original label has two different shades of red like that). Other than that, there's really not much room to squeeze in the charity auction text. I could use the same "shield" from the SNES label and put it in the lower left corner, but it would overlap the image and some people said they don't like that. Another idea is to take that bottom blue car and bring it up a little bit, that would give me lots of room down there.
