my launch 60gb BC PS3 has never given me an issue....

I think a lot of the failures are from people who put the unit in a cabinet or something. When you do that the fat ps3 makes SO much noise from the fans trying to cool it. My PS3s (I have a second 40gb non BC one for use with CFW) sit out in the open up on their sides so the heat vent on the "side" faces up. They stay relatively quiet and have never errored on me.

I thought we had decided that laying them flat vented them better?

Really? I'm downsizing but I decided to keep my ps1 (eventhough I have a ps3) because I felt the ps1 looks waaaaaaaaaay better. Get a ps1, mod it, burn your games.

This is a complete waste of money. Region mod a European/Japanese PS1, get a RGB SCART cable (and a converter to component if you live in the USA). Perfect RGB quality without having to fuck around buying this piece of shit.
