You're right; it's the contrast that really hits you. And it was executed perfectly. I have been waiting for a sequel to this game (or Ouendan) for ages. But we would need to be really lucky to see an EBA2 or OTO3 on the 3DS, given the game's sales... :'(BoringSupreez wrote:I remember that one. I was thinking "man, this game is supposed to be funny. God, why did they have to do that to us?Inazuma wrote: That said, I was crying a lot from the sad stories in the Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents games. Those of you who played those games will know what I'm talking about. In each game, there is one sad story. It always got to me, even the fucking American one. Not only did the opening story make me cry, but I was crying even more during the songs themselves.

only game's that effected me in a "sad" manner would be metal gear solid (the ending if you give in to torture and meryl dies). as well as the death of sniper wolf when otocan comes in and mourns her death
and FF7 when Aries dies and gets released into the life-stream
a lotof other metal gear scenes have also bothered me emotionally... like when otocan's sister gets killed in MGS2
as well as scenes from 4.... when meryl gets married and makes right with her dad or rydain wakes up in the hospital bed and makes right with his family
metal gear is just all the way round (in my opinion) the model of what all games should aspire to be...it reaches out and touches you in ways no game ever has or way that no one would think a game could make you feel
very EPIC series possibly the best of all time

Just the whole plot line with Snake and Big Boss is quite depressing.
I will say - the only plot points I had problems with in the MGS series is the repetitiveness of the different installments (Such as Otocon lamenting over sniper wolf in the first one and then his sister in the second and also the whole third brother thing. There should've just been two snakes), and then the way they sort of just fused Liquid and Ocelot into one bad guy...literally. That's the most unbelievable thing I found within the plot. They should have just either left one of them dead or brought one back instead of having that weird possessed arm plot point.
Those are just minor gripes though really - I still love the games.

ya i can whole heartedly agree the whoe series is completly plot repetative, i have played the MSX metal gear (the release's on the subsistence metal gear 3 i think it was) and metal gear 2 and when i played threw it (and i played the series in oh about 3 weeks) i than realised wow a lot of this stuff is completely recycled threw out all of the gamesSideroller wrote: I will say - the only plot points I had problems with in the MGS series is the repetitiveness of the different installments
in a way i kind of lost a respect for metal gear i always thought of it as a game that didnt do what all this other commercial crap that is constantly recycled day in and day out on every damn AAA title
but for some reason i still fell that metal gear plays on the emotions and real life events in such an aspect that it makes me feel like part of the game, i dont think any game to date has gotten the reaction that metal gear has gotten from me as a player.
every other game just rips off the games before it these days and it makes me sick lol
ya i cired to because another halo got releaseddarthmunky wrote:I think my eyes watered in Halo: Reach but not a legit tear.
(side note: halo should of had a sprint from since launch and im not talking about that armor ability BS they pull in reach either i mean full blown FPS push R3 to sprint)
halo is on the top of my shittiest ever games list right along side COD

I've never understood this one. Maybe it's because I heard about how sad it was over and over for years before I saw it for myself, but it was a pretty bland moment for me.korn16ftl3 wrote:and FF7 when Aries dies and gets released into the life-stream

That's probably why. Spoilers definitely spoil the moment.BoringSupreez wrote:I've never understood this one. i find it that when X game was played in its era (FF7 for example) it is best played in it era if you played FF7 and seen the aris scene youd be like wow what a bunch of block heads or something along those lines (face it that game aged terribly), BUT if you played the game within its era i feel you would have a different respect for said game and said scenexan_racketBOY_fan wrote:That's probably why. Whether you played x game when it was first released or just recently, the story or characters don't age the way graphics do - they're timeless. Be it video games, film, literature or a great book, you're bound to invest some emotional attachment to a story's characters or situations - "block head" or not.korn16ftl3 wrote: i find it that when X game was played in its era (FF7 for example) it is best played in it era if you played FF7 and seen the aris scene youd be like wow what a bunch of block heads or something along those lines (face it that game aged terribly), BUT if you played the game within its era i feel you would have a different respect for said game and said scene
That or you simply have no soul
