If this thread is on it's way to being locked we might as well start discussing opinions on abortion. I'm all for it except those times i'm against it.
Re: Opinions are just that, opinions
I haven't seen anyone on here, even those who believe things I find morally reprehensible, that makes me want to add them to a block list. It's not like the political threads pop up that often, and worse comes to worse people can just ignore those threads. But why limit the amount of knowledge you see, unless that person consistently gives bad information on top of being a jackass?CFFJR wrote:Flake's post has caused me to wonder if I'm on anyone's friend or foe lists.

I'm the exact opposite.Bikeage wrote:If this thread is on it's way to being locked we might as well start discussing opinions on abortion. I'm all for it except those times i'm against it.

Even if you completely disagree with someone it is good to expose yourself to other viewpoints, to help you flesh out your own.o.pwuaioc wrote:I haven't seen anyone on here, even those who believe things I find morally reprehensible, that makes me want to add them to a block list. Exactly. That's also the purpose of debate, I've come to realize. Most people aren't convinced by heated arguments on the internet...MrPopo wrote:Even if you completely disagree with someone it is good to expose yourself to other viewpoints, to help you flesh out your own.o.pwuaioc wrote:I haven't seen anyone on here, even those who believe things I find morally reprehensible, that makes me want to add them to a block list. I certainly appreciate reading people's well thought out arguments when they come up around here.MrPopo wrote: Even if you completely disagree with someone it is good to expose yourself to other viewpoints, to help you flesh out your own.
Its enjoyable and informative, even if I'm not participating (and I never do).
I just wish people wouldn't get so damn mad at each other. It doesn't accomplish anything. Debates that turn into pissing matches lose their value.
I know its silly of me to hope for that, but it can't really be helped.

My problem is that there are people here who are genuinely convinced they are eloquent orators who use their infallible logic to dismantle the fallacies of others.
...of course, to everyone else it looks like they are just calling people ignorant or stupid and that's that.
I'll give people the benefit of the doubt to an extent but after awhile I can't bring myself to care any more. This place is supposed to be fun so I'd rather avoid frustration if necessary.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

This is exactly why I stay out of arguments entirely, even if I see something I just itch to talk about.Flake wrote:My problem is that there are people here who are genuinely convinced they are eloquent orators who use their infallible logic to dismantle the fallacies of others.

With the exception of Wipeoutguy, Flake, Redline, and Sevin, 8-bit, and JMustang, whom I have met in person and verified their homo sapien status, I am of the opinion that you are all cabbages.
