dark wizard was my all time favorite sega cd game because it took me 6 months to finish it with all the characters. i even had a book i used to write in all the hints the townfolk gave me in the game and i drew maps aswell when i found treasures in the quests, i loved that game, truly underrated.
silpheed, when i first bought the console and played this for the first time with the lights off and the stereo loud, classic...
time gal - great game
snatcher - awesome

I've never been too hip on the Sega CD but I do have my favorites.

Android Assault: Really fun, underrated shmup.

Silpheed: The graphics and sound blew my mind back in the day, even if the graphics were pre-rendered who cares it looks fantastic.

Popful Mail: Fun and cute little action RPG. Reminds me a bit of Monster Boy in Wonder Land except with really well done voice overs.

Robo Aleste: I never liked it as much as its predecessor, MUSHA, but it's still a great vertical shmup.

Wing Commander: Honestly not the best version of Wing Commander but it's the first game with voice overs! They're not great voice overs but they're better than Super Wing Commander's attempt on 3DO.

I was never a big fan of Sonic CD. Just couldn't get into it. I didn't like the level design.

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned (several times).

But here's a few that I don't think gets much attention:

Dungeon Explorer- best straight up Gauntlet clone I've ever played.
Revengers of Vengeance -mostly an odd fighter, but has some RPG and shmup parts too. Truly a strange mix, but I liked it
Samurai Shodown - okay, so this has pretty bad load times and I have absolutely no reason to play this version anymore, but for a while there, it was the best version I had and it felt much more like the arcade than the Genny version (even though it still lacked zooming out, Earthquake and was missing the referee guy (Kuroko))

Also, Thunderstrike doesn't get the respect it deserves (even by me, but I still think it's an impressive game).

^I have Dungeon Explorer for my TG16 and it's really fun. Like a mixture between Gauntlet and Zelda.

I've tried the Dungeon Explorer for TG16 and I do agree that it's quite good.

I was surprised to learn that they were completely different games (even though they are the same style). The Sega CD version has much bigger sprites, which I like a lot.

Great series though. I even enjoy the DS game.
