This is like the 6th. time I've seen this and it's still scary as hell. It's a J-Horror/mockumentary about a paranormal investigator that's researching a series of disturbing events caused by a demon called Kagutaba. It's pure, uncut nightmare fuel and it's definetely worth watching.

I watched this earlier this year and didn't find this film scary at all really. I thought it kind of dragged on and the actually scary parts weren't that intense I felt.

I did think the segment with the TV psychics was funny though - but Japanese TV is just funny in general.

I grew up with the supernatural being a more frightening experience than slasher films.

Paranormal Activity 2

I hated the first one (It wasn't scary, it was predictable and the characters were absolutely stupid) but this one is a huge improvement. The characters are much better, the scares aren't predictable and it's fairly creepy. Overall, with this now I'm interested on part 3.

Paranormal doesn't scare me, and Slasher's are usually hokey enough to be funny, so I tend to prefer slashers. I actually get bored with Paranormal movies. I don't like shock and awe movies, their not interesting and usually take it too far, and ruin what could have been a good movie.

It's pretty funny though being that the actual Directors Cut was closer to what Richard Kelly actually intended the film to be. I think he just got lucky with the original cut.
I agree.
Considering how terrible most of his films have been (Southland Tales is a long, overtly complicated mess while The Box is just meh)... I think he was REALLY lucky with Donnie Darko.

Well I can agree with you on the first Paranormal Activity. Everyone thought that movie was so damn scary when it came out - but it just wasn't. It's exactly as you described.

That being said, I just assumed the sequel would be more of the same - but maybe I'll have to check it out now.

It's nice to see that people here hates the original, it's horrendous, overhyped, stupid, predictable and absurdly overrated. For nice found footage horror films stick with Noroi, [REC], The Last Broadcast, Grave Encounters, The Blair Witch Project and The Pougkeepsie Tapes.

I really like Blair Witch. Mostly out of nostalgia, but I do. I thought Last Broadcast was meh. I herad [REC] was great. Guess I'll nab it from my library.
