RF shielding for the Sega CD... how do you take it off???

Post by Nemoide »

So I'm trying to unhook my model 1 Genesis from my Sega CD. I have one of those metal "shields" in the slot that connects the Genesis to the Sega CD, but I can't figure out how to remove it.

I pull and wiggle but it just won''t come off. I don't want to damage it or my Genesis. The other metal shielding plates all came off easily... does anyone know what to do?

It's the little one right by the connecting port, not the big one with the screw. I'm not THAT dense.

Not joking.

Sega CD model 1 or 2?

I've owned both (still have a model 2, but have none with me at the moment), so I'm just thinking from memory. I really don't recall there being ANYTHING difficult about it. There are they large metal plates on the bottom with the model 2, and that's about it other than sliding it out. I don't think there is anything difficult about the model 1 from my recollection.

Anything that resembles a "metal shield" inside the connection area is part of the systems! Don't remove them. Just slide them out. I have honestly never had a problem with either set up.

It's a model 2 Sega CD and it's step 3 on this Sega CD guide.

Slide it in to install. Slide it out to uninstall. Don't forget to screw it or unscrew it.

If you can't get it, maybe you need some lube to slide it smoothly?
