Watch Opening Scene of Green Lantern Animated Series
Following the world-premiere screening of Green Lantern: The Animated Series this morning at New York Comic Con, Warner Bros. has released the opening scene of the first episode, which airs Nov. 11 on Cartoon Network.
Produced by Bruce Timm, the CG-animated action series follows the continuing adventures of Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps: “As Earth’s Green Lantern, Hal Jordan is used to being in dangerous situations—but he’s never faced anything like this! Set at the farthest reaches of deep space, Hal must face down an invasion from the Red Lantern Corps. Hal is soon joined by an all-new group of heroes on a mission to protect Guardian Space — and the Green Lantern Corps itself!”
The cartoon features the voices of Josh Keaton, Michael Clarke Duncan, Richard Green and Robert Englund.
I'm not a fan of the CGI, I really wish it was hand-drawn. But after watching that clip, I'm more excited than I was. Looks like it could be promising.
People know I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan and will check out anything he works on. I feel the same way about Bruce Timm with regards to anything animated. If he's working on it, I'm there. I think few cartoons really match the overall quality of the DC stuff that he's worked on
I don't mind the computer based look of this Green Lantern series. If you guys want something more traditional looking, we've got Young Justice for that. I love the animation of that show and it's visual style is more in line with previous shows that Bruce Timm worked on. Thundercats looks great too in that kind of anime style, though the overall quality of that show is a little hit and miss from episode to episode(it's managed to keep my interest though)

Thundercats has been amazing. Some of the best hand-drawn Western animation I've seen in a long time. We're already on reruns, though, which seems kind of ridiculous since we've only gotten a handful of episodes so far. But I'm willing to wait since the quality of the toon is an excuse, I just hope that what we saw wasn't the entire first season already.
