if I wanted to -- are there linux based ones? I mean, I know a lot of media player front-ends are small linux kernel and not much else...?
Yes, there are - but if you don't use/know Linux in the first place than you might find setting that up to be more cumbersome...
I've used some linux, but mostly builds with nice GIU's like Ubuntu that felt very Windows-ish...

I have to say this is a great idea and wish you the best of luck. I would love to start a project like this for a cab at my mom's house. Gotta have something for the grand-kids when they are there. Can't wait for some updates and pictures.

Don't forget to get a Coin Reject Button
Oh you have to include one. Throw a micro switch behind it and jumper it to your coin key for Mame. Since Mame is fully key programmable, suggest the RETURN Key. That way it has a possible use in other games that require ENTER to start. :D

Nvidia driver installs have a rotate function, I would think ATI (AMD) does too. Been a while since I had an ATI card.

project on hold -- seven tested that mini-PC and it's wonky. And since I'm not really in the market to spend money on this project, it's gonna just remain warm on the backburner for a bit.
