What xan_racketBOY_fan said. Interesting though that you think it looks like a VCR - that's intentional! Since it came out during the early 80s video game crash, Nintendo wanted to disassociate it with "games", so it doesn't look like a video game system (cf. Atari designs and the Famicom, for example) but rather a VCR. This is also why they called it an "Entertainment System" and why it came with R.O.B.

Last Sunday at a local car bootsale I picked up,

- An Original Xbox, 2 controllers, DVD remote
- Splinter Cell
- Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
- Aliens Vs Predator Extinction
- GTA San Andreas
- Medal of Honour Rising Sun
- Championship Manager Football 2001/02
- Fahrenheit Special Edition Box

Also included in the bag, (by mistake I think), was 2 BT cordless lineline phones, complete with bases, & answer phone.

Got the lot for just £20!

Everything was a little dirty but all came up a treat, the controllers are pretty much unused so Im well happy.

Ive had the Xbox apart and blasted all the dust out of it, this machine is soon going to become soft/hard modded, just need to figure out the best way to do it, ie the best hack, any suggestions ?

That's because it is wrecking your cart slot. Have fun getting anything to work without it if you use it too much. Your pins will need rebending even worse then they already do.
THIS. I tried my Game Genie just one time and almost ruined my toaster NES. After the NES died, inserting a couple of different game carts a few times without the Genie got it to work again. Lucky the NES pins retained the old "memory" before the Genie did a permanent damaging bend.

The Game Genie won't work with the top loader without the elusive adaptor. The top loader fixed the cart issues, but then downgraded to RF. You can mod it or get the pricey import though. I found one other advantage of the VCR Toaster. I can place another console on top, saves room on my crowded coffee table.

Why would it be wrecking my cart slot? The end of the GG that plugs in to the NES doesn't seem any different than the end of a regular cartridge. The super-hard gripping I was talking about is in the connection between the game cart and the GG.

the game genie is lke 15-20% thicker than your nes games (this is why a GG will not work on a top loader). this is why it makes playing your games easier, overtime you will need to repair or replace that pin connector.

Boring, you need to do some research before you type your opinions as facts.

Found some cool stuff at the sales:

Gray Nintendo 64 controller - $1
Purple controller - $1
They look and play like they were never used pretty cool. :)

Commodore 64 plug in play - $2
Sonic and the Secret Rings - $1
Resident Evil 4 PS2 - $.50

Pretty cool on the commodore plug n play. I've never actually played any of the games for this console so it should be fun toying around with it a bit.

Nice, is that the C64DTV? If that's the one, it's a real C64, you can even open it up and solder in headers for 1541 floppy drives, cartridge ports, etc. They're in pretty high demand among commodore nerds, a C64DTV will often go for more than an original C64.

A very nice find! There are different versions, one model allows wiring in two 9 pin joysticks.
