Much the same for me, man. This is my favorite time of the year. Nothing like being all locked up in the basement with a good cup of joe and some Gradius in the dark.

I have memories of various NES games (especially Zelda) when I smell stale cigarette smoke. Like when something came from a smokers home but no is no longer as strong.

I used to play games at a friend's house who's mother smoked. Although, she never lit up when I was around.

Flash forward several years, and I got a copy of Lunar for Sega CD (ebay auction), which came from a smoker environment. So I have good memories there too.

So stale smoke makes me think of Zelda, Mario, and Lunar.

The funny thing is, I've never been a smoker and I hate secondhand smoke. I also don't like my games smelling like smoke, but when I got Lunar, I was so elated I just didn't care.

I don't really play it anymore, but the Circle C level of Action Half-Life 4.0 and David Bowie's Space Oddity are inextricably connected in my mind. As far as I'm aware there's not legitimate reason, except maybe I was listening to a lot of Bowie at that time of my life.

Super Mario Bros. 3 makes me think of children's birthday parties, probably just because the birthday when I got the game we did nothing but play it. Lots of nostalgia in that one :)

If I ever have a big juicy pickle with a good turkey sandwich, it reminds me of the night me and my friend finally beat the World tour on Super Spike V'Ball on the NES. What a great game (and featuring Billy & Jimmy Lee!!).

Whenever I hear Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" I think of Gradius III on SNES. The story involves the above being played at the same time at 3am back in the day.... epic stuff.

Nice thread idea!

Whenever the sweet aroma of Pizzahut fills the air, I instantly remember TMNT for the arcade. The one my mom and I used to go to when I was a kid had the arcade game and I loved it SO MUCH! Then when I learned it came out on the NES I nearly died. I remember my cousin had a copy and I was extremely jealous; at least he was kind enough to lend it to me.

Oh, I forgot. Whenever it rains, I feel like playing colorful 2D platformers.

It's "Bark at the Moon" for Killer Instict with me. Besides the obvious Sabrewulf connection, I was introduced to both around the same time.

Actually, there are a lot of games that I can relate music to, and vice versa.
But Ozzy had as big an impact as anything, given that specific era of my life.

Crystals always make me think of the original Legend of Zelda, because our next door neighbor, who owned an NES, had a bunch of them decorating her living room. First time I both saw crystals (that I can remember....I was like 4? 5?) and played Legend of Zelda (and SMB and Duck Hunt!).

At first I thought you wrote "Crystalis always makes me think of the original Legend of Zelda" and I was gonna say WELL NO SHIT.
