YES!! Excellent call my friend! I never saw it though and I've trying to hunt down a copy but I imagine it's probably expensive to purchase.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Well at least I can go through netflix to watch it. I had no clue that they even had it on there? Sometimes it's hit or miss w/ horror on netflix. I have Gingerdeadman, Rachel's Attic, Hideous!, and Demonic Toys 2 on the saved Q thing. I have never seen those films and was curious how they were. It's good to know that I can FINALLY check out Hard to Die!

Hard to Die is hilarious. Classic Wynorski, man. Re-used footage from the other Massacre films and excuses to make girls take showers. Haha.
EDIT: according to IMDB a Cheerleader Massacre 2 was made in 2009, though I can't find much info on it.

Wow, I had no clue that there was a CM2? I will have to look into that as well.

I LOVE THIS FILMS!!!!Evildeadmanwalking77 wrote:
5/5: Yet another of one of my all time personal favs. It's just plain fun! The series itself is all over the place as it is known as The Massacre series which consisted of 2 more sequels w/ the Slumber Party title. Cheerleader and Sororiety House (2 films) Massacre are also apart of this series as well. I love them all! SPM like I said is just some good ol' fashoined slasher fun at it's best. It's goofy at times but that's part of what makes it good imo. Worth a shot if you like 80s cheesey slashers!

Another 2 movies for the night. This finishes off the series, not including Freddy vs. Jason. That is for another night.

In the Final Nightmare the focus of the films has shifted from a tale about how the decedents of Elm Street are trying to survive from a dream raping homicidal maniac into the Freddy show. This movie is 100% focused on Freddy and his elaborate death sequences and elaborate as they might be, they are also predictable: The stoner gets pulled into a psychedelic dream, the girl with the abusive father has to face him, etc. The real world/ dream world confusion is minimal and the nightmares are made for laughs rather than scary.

"I'll get you my pretty...And your little soul too!"
Somewhere between the 5th and 6th movies, Freddy must have been visiting some comedy clubs because he often makes jokes to the viewer and plays to the camera. Sometimes it feels like they should have just adhered an ACME patch to his sweater.

Must be a lot of Wil-e Coyote cartoons in the afterlife
This is by no means a bad thing, especially for those of us who like a little comedy with our slasher. What other slasher can you watch where the villain plays his own video game

Awesome graphics
With his own, hand made power glove?

Suck on that Nintendo
Final Nightmare also gives the added bonus of more background information about Freddy

Freddy's glove collection. Not pictured, their uses.
As well as cameos by Roseanne, Tom Arnold, Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp.

Now you see Johnny Depp...

Now you don't.
So, if you're going for a less intense slasher with a good sense of humor, than this is perfect. But if you're hoping for this sequel to be similar in tone to the first, well then...

3-4/5 (Depending on you mood)

New Nightmare brings back the involvement of Wes Craven to the franchise and thus completely drops any pretense of the comedic Freddy that has been built up through the last few films. Freddy still has some one-liners, but instead of being played for comedy the character has returned to his original menacing form. Freddy's back again, but this time he hasn't returned to the film world, but to the real world we inhabit.
This is actually one of my favorites in the series. Heather Langenkamp returns and Freddy gets a makeover, complete with new knives and green eyes and hat.

Also, a stylish trench coat
It pays homage to the first film in a couple of scenes....

...while also giving us some new, disturbing imagery to work with.

I'm gonna eat you up
Before he made Scream, this film was Wes' first exploration into examining the role film plays on those who watch it. My only real complaint is the lack of screen time Freddy actually receives. While his lack of physical presence adds to the suspense and tension, at 112 minutes long, New Nightmare is by far the longest installment of the series and after watching all the other films so close together his absence is even more noticed than it would have been had I spaced out the viewings.

Night of the Demons
SUCH an overlooked title. This is another favorite of mine. Classic 80's kids-partying-in-haunted-house flick. Also starring miss Linnea Quigley. Kevin Tenney is better known for his Tawny Kitean (sp?) movie Witchboard, but this should be more well-known in my opinion. It's creepy and awesome.
There are 2 sequels (kind of good) and remake that was surprisingly good starring Monica Keana, Edward Furlong and Shannon Elizabeth.
BTW -- question for music geeks: what time signature is "Stigmata Martyr" written in???
