Thoughts on this parody on Mega Man 2?

Post by Hookshot_John »

Hey everyone - just registered and wanted to get everyone's opinion on this video we put together for a show we call "Pixels and Sprites" Our take on some of the Dorkly Bits parodies.

http://thehookshot.com/2011/09/pixels-s ... -mega-man/

We plan on doing more in the future (only done 2 so far) but we're looking for some feedback and future ideas! Thanks!

Yeah I'm good at obvious humor - Like what would this character do in this situation.

I can't think of any creative criticism here, as this isn't a parody but just a voice over. Over reviewed game, very tired "jokes", and nothing of value to the viewer. If you have fun making these videos, by all means keep it up, but I wouldn't expect anyone to view your videos.

Fair enough. Can you point me to a video you would find funny, or perhaps something you think gives value to the viewer. I'm all for improving and trying to create something that is worth people's time. Thanks!

Hook shot John sent me a very pleasant pm, to which I responded.

I think it's just a matter of finding the tiny market available that would relate to his sense of humor. With all the online game reviews, he needs to focus on who really likes his material and grow from that. The reviews/parodies aren't dumb, but they need polishing.

No sir. Timing and inflection aren't things I can convey well in text, and I'd rather not have my comedy online for free use. That, and it's a hobby, and I love my current career and wouldn't want to jeopardize my job because someone in HR doesn't approve of me saying "fuck" onstage.

But yeah, why would anyone call the loudest shoes on Earth sneakers?

because they literally were used for sneaking...
wikipedia wrote: Etymology

In the 1800s, a London police officer developed a rubber-soled shoe in order to catch criminals in the act quietly. He called his invention "sneakers". The name derived from the fact that the rubber soles of the shoes made them noiseless.[1] The term "sneaker" was also used in 1887 by Boston Journal of Education:[2]

“It is only the harassed schoolmaster who can fully appreciate the pertinency of the name boys give to tennis shoes — sneakers.”

Um, if you do stand up comedy it is only a matter of time before someone tapes you and posts it somewhere on the web (if it is any good, that is). Sounds like a cop out excuse to me...

Besides, I wouldn't want to work for any place that would fire me because of what I do in my time off.
