That's one of my favorite parts in the game, lol. Love the atmosphere and everything. I guess I could do without the sentry standoffs though.

Oh don't get me wrong I like the atmosphere, the progression just isn't as good as other places in the game. Especially when Alex keeps telling you to hurry, then makes you wait 10 minutes for her to catch up.

Stalker is really good but could be better I'd say. The story hasn't been too engaging and the game is kind of ... nothing but fetch quests. It's really not so much different than like Borderlands, or even the new Fallout's to an extent, but yeah. I think I'm far enough in to say there's not a whole lot to it underneath, just carrying one gun around mostly now and it just boils down to shootouts and stuff. It's pretty simplistic.

That said I'm still having tons of fun with it and pretty far now I think. The industrial area's and interior levels are really amazing to me, awesome level design there. I went back to that underground tunnel earlier (the one to the military base that you steal the documents from), and when I went back through the tunnels at night... there was nothing but those invisible monsters, and suddenly my guy/screen kept going crazy (I haven't seen that happen before), and it was just epic. I missed the stash when I originally ran through the tunnels, but found it, then GTFO'd. The funny thing is the jumpiest scare for me during this whole bit was some stupid marine that kind of came out of nowhere while I was in the tunnels, after I thought I cleared them out. I was just in my inventory doing stuff and BAM someone walking right up to me was shooting away, lol.

I have an endurance artifact now that seems to pretty much give me infinite running, so that's awesome.

I can definitely imagine Complete/LURK give the game a completely different experience though, so it will be one I'll have to hit up again when I get a better PC.

I'm disheartened that the devs are considering draconian DRM for the sequel, which is inconveniencing as well as potentially limiting of modding potential.

AKA the requirement for a constant online connection? Yeah that is bologna. What about people like me that have wonky wireless connections that go in and out? ... lol.

I just realised I used 'potential' twice  Hopefully someone will circumvent this DRM if indeed they choose to go along with it.

I am about 5 or 6 levels into XIII for the Xbox. I am playing it on my 360, which makes it look pretty good. I am enjoying it so far, it reminds me of Goldeneye on the N64 with more of a Borne Identity storyline.

Surprised I am enjoying it so much, I remember playing it for a couple of levels on the PC and never getting into it. Now I am thinking its a fairly underrated game and I only paid $1.80 for my copy.

I was really into XIII until about halfway through the game. Towards the end it gets really.... boring. I just remember everything getting really monotonous and the levels near the end felt uninspired.

I finished up the "labs" in Stalker, wow... the underground segments of the game are really impressive. I'm not one that's scared by those sort of things in games, but I can certainly say it's a lot more impressive with the intensity than other games like FEAR, etc, that are kind of similar I guess. Stalker seems a bit more subtle, so you're just walking around on edge the entire time in those creepy environments.

Although the flying barrels and crap was really annoying, lol.

Feels like I'm pretty far, I'm "veteran" status now and have cleared out most of the maps I think. Going to the scientists now.

Yeah, that segment was really creepifying, and much more effective than any other game I've played. So now you're going to get your first really good gun, on your way to the scientists. It's a noticable step up from the AK and the MP5 you've been using until now.
