Favorite Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Music
I was going through the favorite NES music thread and was surprised to see that there wasn't one for the Genesis. I was a Sega kid in the early 90s, so most of my favorite videogame songs to this day are from that console. I could make an almost endless list, but here's just a few of my favorites:
Sonic 2 - Metropolis Zone
Sonic 2 - Mystic Cave Zone
Sonic 2 - Hill Top Zone
Sonic 2 - Chemical Plant Zone
Sonic 2 - Sky Chase Zone
Sonic 2 - Wing Fortress Zone
Sonic 2 - Special Stage
(and pretty much every other Sonic 2 song.... I've played 100's of Genesis games, and own 100's, but still, most of my favorite Genesis songs were from that one game... wow)
Rocket Knight Adventures 1-1
Rocket Knight Adventures 1-2
Rocket Knight Adventures 2-1
Rocket Knight Adventures 2-2
Rocket Knight Adventures 4
Rocket Knight Adventures 5-2
Rocket Knight Adventures 7
(wow again, a game with incredible music)
As a kid, I played those 2 Genesis games the most, probably, so that's why most of my favorites are from those 2 games.
Sonic 3 - Credits
Sonic 3 - Special Stage
Skitchin' - Cheese Grater
Skitchin' - Psycho Deep Fry
Eternal Champions - Trident
Primal Rage - Land Conquered
Ballz 3D - Opening Theme
ok, I'm going to stop myself there. I'll probably think of some more later, but those are what I could remember off the top of my head.
What else do you guys like? Did I introduce anyone to some great Genesis music?

I love all the music from the first Sonic. Such funky bass.
MUSHA has insanely awesome music!
I'm also a fan of the opening theme to Mega Turrican.
(sorry for the lack of links, I'm on my phone)

Re: Favorite Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Music
Two of my favorite Streets of Rage tracks, the boss theme(way better than the one in SOR 2) and the boat stage theme
Nice remake of SOR's boss theme from the Remake
Adventures of Batman and Robin Animal Boss
Adventures of Batman and Robin Dark Studio
^This was such a hard Genesis game and the music was appropriately hardcore to match. It was so wonderfully dark and psychotic, which is actually the only thing about the game that actually fits the Batman theme
Earthworm Jim Buttville the Descent
Earthworm Jim For Pete's Sake
Gunstar Heroes Ancient Ruins
Gunstar Heroes Mines
Shinobi III Whirlwind
Shinobi III Idaten
Sonic 3 Ice Cap Zone Act 1
Sonic & Knuckles Robotnick
Sonic & Knuckles Doomsday Zone
S&K Lava Reef Zone Act 2
S&K Sky Sanctuary
S&K Final Boss
Batman Gotham City Streets I
Castlevania Bloodlines Iron Blue Intention
Castlevania Bloodlines The Discolored Wall
Castlevania Bloodlines The Prayer of a Tragic Queen
Castlevania Bloodlines Nothing to Lose
Casltevania Bloodlines A Vision of Dark Secrets

Also, I see nobody has posted Sonic 3D Blast yet. Regardless how you feel about how the game plays, the music is classic Sonic.

Some Thunder Force IV...
Lightning Strikes Again
Metal Squad
Fighting Back
and MUSHA
For the Love of...
Galvanic Gear
Full Metal Fighter
I always really enjoyed Sub-Terrania's soundtrack as well. Done by the same people as the Adventures of Batman and Robin.

Mission Report

Here's a nice little Genesis Music Tribute I just ran across though

Re: Favorite Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Music
Genesis music is SO good. I had to limit my choices to a top five. There is just too much good Genesis music, especially Sonic. Genesis sonic music is the essence of brilliance in musical form.
Sonic & Knuckles: Death Egg Zone
Outrun: Splash Wave
Toejam and Earl: Rapmaster Rocket Racket
Super Hang-On: Winning Run
Gunstar Heroes: Stage 1
And, as a bonus since its 32x, one of my all time favorite songs. Door into Summer from Knuckles Chaotix.
Besides Door into Summer, which is in my top five for all consoles ever, this list is probably not THAT accurate. Just what I could remember loving right away. There is so much more I'm just not recalling. Also, I couldn't decide if Green Hill Zone should have been listed. So many good memories attached to that. I just felt like... Everyone has heard it, you know?
