24. Catherine (PS3)
25. Let's Go Jungle! (arcade)
26. Super Puzzle Fighter II: For Matching Service (DC)
27. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (DC)

OK, I'm reluctant to add Kill Bill, but whatever. I've been exploring the DC homebrew scene a lot the last couple of weeks. Of course Beats Of Rage is a big sub-section of that scene. When I saw this one I had to try it. (I was actually really bummed that Ubisoft decided to scrap their PS2 Kill Bill game.)

THE GOOD: Kill Bill Vol 1 looks absolutely phenomenal. The sprites are great. I mean Gogo even looks like Gogo! Even the printable artwork is impressive. The music is ripped from the movie sndtrk, so it's certainly fitting. The controls are excellent. It's very obvious that there was a lot of fandom for the film while designing the game. And I appreciate that.

THE BAD: The game is so short. :( There are four stages, but ultimately it just feels like one level split into four sections. The entire game takes place in O-Ren's house (the end of the first movie). There's very little screen scrolling, mostly just a TON of badguys to fight off (the Crazy 88). Anyway, I'm pretty sure I beat the game in about 15 minutes. Which was SUCH a letdown, because like I said, it's enjoyable and has a ton of fan service. Really it felt more like a demo than a game.

The First 50 Games of the Year

The Stanley Parable - PC
Age of Zombies - PSMini (PSP)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice For All - NDS
Star Wars Trilogy Arcade - Arcade
The Binding of Isaac - PC
Dead Island - PC
Dead Space 2 - 360

Games Completed: 57

Thoughts on Games:

I got up to the second disc when this first came out, for some reason or another I got sidetracked (I imagine because I had finished the first one and the gameplay was feeling a little tired at the time), I picked up again earlier this week and finished it. Really more of the same, but that is not a bad thing.

I don't think Isaac needed to talk, I thought it added to the feel of the original. I thought the new Zero G system was leaps and bounds better than the original. Much like the first game, I only upgraded the Rig and the Plasma Cutter, the other weapons were always secondary weapons for the Plasma Cutter.

Total: 60

Sam and Max 202 was probably one of the weaker in the series, although it wasn't exactly bad. It all felt a bit forced joke-wise though. A couple of puzzles were fun, but none were especially noteworthy either. I'm still enjoying series 2, but I hope that the episodes improve, as nothing has matched up to season 1 just yet.

Monster Hunter Tri was pretty fun. It has some problems - for one it takes hours and hours and hours before you actually get to do much in the way of actually hunting monsters. The early part of the game is full of missions like "find 7 of this type of mushroom" and "deliver 3 iron ores". Still, when you get to fight giant monsters, it's pretty fun. The pacing of the game takes some time to get used too aswell. It's very slow and deliberate, you have to pick your moment to attack. Because of this it wasn't uncommon for some of the later monsters to take me about 50 minutes to kill, yet I never found myself getting bored of it. Sometimes tings felt a bit cheap, such as enemies hurting me even when I block, or two hits in a row making me stunned, pretty much guaranteeing a third, and death. Losing a mission was VERY frustrating because you basically had wasted almost an hour on it by that point. However, overall I found it very fun, and maybe I'll play another game in the series someday.

P.S. Still haven't played the online campaign! Any Europeans out there who are interested?

I beat Beggar Prince and got the Sarah ending. I only encountered two game resetting bugs and they were very close to save points. I really enjoyed it 8)

Wow. Okay, so I had played DOA2 on PS2 before. It wasn't this good. The DC version looks amazing! And it's smooth. I liked the first DOA quite a bit, but this was far better. I still don't have a DC fightpad, and quickly I learned that my hands could not play this game with a standard controller, so thankfully I have the Agetec stick. I'm not great at using a stick for fighting games, but I caught on quick enough. Anyway, I just thought this one was excellent. The art, the music, the story-mode. I'm not huge on 3D fighters, but this is one I can definitely see myself revisiting.

it wasn't pretty, but i successfully beat the game. it took about 1000 continues, too. words can't describe how utterly frustrating this game this and i think i have grown a hatred for it. the whole game is good, fun, not too hard, but the second to last boss just ruins the game for me.
if you took a shit, please put it back

Metal Slug X for PS1 *new* I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first one. My biggest problem was that I did not like the turning into a mummy feature but I really liked the expanded vehicle selection and eating too much and getting fat. The new weapons were hit or miss but I'll probably still play though this one a few more times.
