Still, you could be right. It's not entirely impossible, but I TOTALLY believe that Vince could fire J.R. for real, on live TV, in his hometown. It's been pretty well documented too that Vince does NOT like Jim Ross, which I find funny since Ross is ten times smarter than Vince and knows more about the business than he ever will
Well documented where? I've never heard this and I've been a wrestling fan since the late 80s. I find it pretty hard to believe that Vince hates a guy that has so many different hats in his company. He's not only an announcer, but he was also a talent scout, he wrote articles for WWE Magazine and WWE's Website, he did business deals with other companies like Jakks Pacific, and he even has his own BBQ sauce which he tries to selflessly promote on-air, in WWE magazines, and on WWE websites as often as possible. And he's been a part of the WWE for like 2 decades now.

I mean, if you can show me otherwise, I'll eat crow. But I just find it hard to believe.

You don't follow a lot of insider wrestling sites or listen to wrestling podcasts I'm guessing? Download the latest PWTorch podcast, the one they released yesterday covering Raw and they talk about it a bit. There are things I hate about the PWTorch podcast, but they are very good at keeping up with industry news, including rumors and insider stuff

You don't actually think the WWE would fire J.R. for real, on live TV, in his hometown like that, do you? Of course not, they made the worst possible scenario out of it because that makes for a good storyline.
You can really stop with suggesting I don't realize wrestling is 100% scripted. Of course JR wasn't really fired. But this could still mean he's off Raw for awhile again or something, which sucks. That's a fact. I still hate Cole too.

Yeah, JR is still with the company, but I don't think he knew he was getting fired as an on-air announcer

From what I've heard, Vince dislikes Ross for a lot of reasons. He doesn't like the way Ross looks with his Bell's palsy. The guys who run the WWE are very superficial. Kevin Dunn likes barbie doll divas, Laurinitis hired Kelly Kelly from a modelling agency and Vince has a fascination with large men which is why no talent losers like Ezekial Jackson get pushes all the time.

Also, I've heard there is jealousy due to Ross becoming acknowledged as a better announcer than Vince was in his younger days. Plus, Ross is old school and appreciates real wrestling while Vince wants wrestling to be all about entertainment and competing with whatever's on tv so that causes friction. I hear that problems started too when Ross once showed an interest in maybe giving up on being an active part of the WWE and that pissed off Vince. As I understand it, Ross was privy to a lot of unscrupulous pay practices in the WWE while he was head of talent relations. This is one of the reasons Vince will never fire him. Ross knows too many of the company's dirty secrets, but that doesn't stop Vince from fucking with him all the time, like that time on Raw when Vince told Ziggler and Vickie through their headsets to take JR's hat off his head and squash it for no apparent reason

I wasn't suggesting you specifically. I was speaking about the general assumption amongst the internet wrestling community that this was for real.

True.

The Ross stuff certainly sounds weird. Well, if I know right, he's really close friends with Steve Austin. Maybe he should give him a shout to bust a can of whoop ass backstage a little. lol

Ross and King will always be my favorite announcing combo. Old Vince was pretty cool but sounded really superficial sometimes, he's not my favorite and doesn't have character like JR or King to me.

I'd even take Booker over Cole completely though, lol. Booker is pretty terrible at it, but at least he brings in the energy and he seems passionate about it despite his limited skill, lol.

You guys are also forgetting JR was a Ted Turner boy back in the 80's/early 90's with WCW. And ever since Vince hired Ross, he's made JR out to be the whipping boy to show up Turner.

And as for whether Vince would or wouldn't actually fire/humiliate someone in their hometown - go ask Bret Hart about that one!

I'm surprised the Montreal Screwjob wasn't brought up earlier. But yeah, the loss of JR on RAW commentary is a pretty big blow for me. I was totally stoked when HHH brought him back on, but to be honest as much as I love the King an' JR, I still think Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan were the all-time greatest!

That wasn't your normal situation, though. There was a huge amount of miscommunication which led to both guys thinking they were getting stabbed in the back by each other.
