I was really sad about not being able to play this game because I don't buy Xbox 360 or PS3 games, so hearing this news makes me very happy. It really sucks that it's only coming to Europe though. I would much prefer a Japanese version. (Steam doesn't count since you don't own it.)
I have never imported a game from Europe, so I was hoping you guys could link me to some online stores that you think will sell this to someone in the USA. I may pirate it to test it out at first, and if everything checks out I will probably want to buy it. Thanks.

I think amazon uk ships to the states.

I'm really happy about this. I hope most companies follow suit and start releasing all their stuff on the PC as well.
By the way, Inazuma, you should make sure that the boxed version isn't Steamworks enabled, or it won't make any difference to have the disc (the game will still be tied to your account). I don't give a shit about that, but I'm sure you do.

Thanks for the advice. If the physical version is ruined with DRM, I will stick to my pirated copy.jfrost wrote:I'm really happy about this. I hope most companies follow suit and start releasing all their stuff on the PC as well.

In other words, if Sega allows me to own the game, I will buy it.

Re: Sonic Generations confirmed for PC release
I wish that Sega would release all of their games on PC -- it would make my life a thousand times better. I would gladly support Sonic Generations, Valkyria Chronicles, Yakuza 3-Dead Souls, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, Virtual On: Force, Rise of Nightmares, and the Platinum Games titles if it didn't meant supporting two consoles that I absolutely hate. The Europe-only element is lame, but I'll be giving Sega my money on this one regardless -- they really had gamers like me in mind when they developed this one, and I can't thank them enough for it.

I totally agree. The PC is the best gaming platform and I would love to have more good games on it.Original_Name wrote:I wish that Sega would release all of their games on PC -- it would make my life a thousand times better. It's extremely quick and easy for me to play a computer game on my HDTV while using a gamepad, thanks to HDMI out on my new PC. I've been playing the PC game Stepmania on my TV recently and everything works perfectly. Sonic Generations will be awesome too.

Back when the Saturn was nearing its commercial end, Sega handled a meaty number of high-profile arcade and Saturn conversions for Windows, and for the most part they were playable if you had current hardware at the time.
With the Dreamcast/Xbox/PS2 it was a different story though.. we seldom got any PC ports, and Sega Rally 2 doesn't run at all on anything post-WinXP.

Re: Sonic Generations confirmed for PC release
Definitely, I just wish that I didn't have to miss out on so much. No one wants to support Child of Eden, for instance, more than I do (Rez is my all-time favorite game), but I just can't bring myself to support Sony or the Xbox brandname any longer. I've actually thought about pirating games and donating money directly to developers, but I have no idea how to do that. I'm not a fan of digital distribution (especially not at full-price), but I'd rather support Steam than PlayStation and Xbox. Unfortunately, the majority of the titles that have come out this generation (predominantly PlayStation 3-exclusives) never made their way to PC.
Based on the trends I've been seeing, I have a feeling that cloud-gaming will probably drive the PlayStation/Xbox model out within a decade, it's just a matter of whether that segment of the industry remains controlled by young upstarts or if the Mr. Moneybags at Sony and Microsoft just come along and steal the idea by putting their logos on the same box.

Yes, Sega's late 90s PC ports were excellent. I have fond memories playing the many Sonic ports and Virtual-On on my old Pentium II Compaq. Virtual-On actually ran at a higher resolution than the arcade version I believe, and Sonic R had a better draw distance and unique weather effects.Pulsar_t wrote:Back when the Saturn was nearing its commercial end, Sega handled a meaty number of high-profile arcade and Saturn conversions for Windows, and for the most part they were playable if you had current hardware at the time.

I'm confused, this game is coming here in the states before released in japan correct? any clue why? was it created in Sega USA or something? Is there a Sega USA that still exists? lol sorry for the ramble, everything goes to japan before us so I'm confused.
