I guess just don't play anything Japanese.
It's really not all that cutesy compared to other popular games/series.

Is there anyone posting here who doesn't own a PC? Baldur's Gate is playable on any modern PC OS via GemRB. Platform accessability should simply not be a factor here.dunpeal2064 wrote:Go Ys go! With 8 platforms to play it on, everyone could join!

Superdeformed overworld characters? Check.
Big eyed, spikey hair anime portraits? Check.
Seems like pretty typical cutesy JRPG fair to me.

I don't have a pc
And those full-screen big-eyed scenes happen like... Twice
But yeah, thats why we are voting. Comparing.Ys and Baldur's Gate is fairly silly in the first place.
Whats funny to me is, some people here are loving Ys, and some are hating on it
Baldur's gate isn't even being discussed.

Re: Poll 1 - RPG
One of the reasons I voted for Y's is because it's shorter (8-9 hours) versus 40+ hours for Baldur's Gate. Whether the characters have the anime look or not doesn't bother me.

What do you post with? iPhone? Android? They've got that covered too.dunpeal2064 wrote:I don't have a pc![]()

Hey, cool, if it wins, I'll have a way to play it
I still want Ys to win. Just seems like a game everyone should try. Its nice and short too.
But, I'll give BG a chance too.

But, but, but...
They are completely different types of games. I like both, but this is NOT an east vs. west RPG comparison at all.
Ys is a action adventure game, not a lot different from Zelda. In fact, it IS the same sort of game as Zelda. If Ys is an RPG, then so is Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and the Zelda games.
Not only that, but Baldur's Gate literally game out a decade after Ys.
This is not even a legit comparison! I'm calling thread fail. Sorry.
Baldur's Gate vs. a mid-90s J-RPG (FFVI, FFVII, Lunar: SSS, Chrono Trigger, etc.) would make a lot more sense.
