My main gripe with the game is that it ended way too soon.. I realise the 20 gigs are mostly compressed textures but I still believe Borderlands to be the better game. Don't feel disappointed when everything ends abruptly!

It's not a real id game. It has regenerating health.

I hate to say it but I'm not real interested in buying Rage at full price. Or even half price. It's like they tried to expand on Raven's Wolfenstein 2009 and didn't do a good job of it. (From the hour or so I've played at friends houses).

Well I'm diving back into Stalker, think I might finally be digging it this time. Playing vanilla, as discussed earlier my PC can't handle Complete (and probably LURK? lol). I'm admittedly kind of skimming over some LP's on youtube though to learn how to play this game better, lol.

If you can get to the point where you have your first automatic weapon you should be home free. The most frustrating part of the game is the beginning where you have ass weaponry. Once you have a halfway decent gun you can start winning firefights more consistently and the game picks up. Then you get the pants scared off you.

Just finished setting up Rage.. even with the performance driver it's got texture problems.. Nothing game-breaking but was hoping for a better PC experience from id. Amnesia can wait
Just beat it on PC. This game was the biggest let down I've had in a long time. While some of the game play was really fun, this game just felt like a glorified tech demo.
Good thing I picked up Portal 2 for $15. I've been enjoying that way more.
That's what every id game has been ever since Quake 2. They make an awesome new engine, make a game built on it to show off what it can do, and then after that they license the engine for use to other companies. Remember the myriad of early 2000s PC games than ran on the Quake 3 engine?

...and still do xD. Bits of the newer Call of Duty games still run on Quake 3 code. The Source engine also has bits of Quake 3 code in it as well.

Bits of Quake 1, actually. And I'm fairly certain Quake 2, since iirc GoldSrc was built off of Quake 2.

MegaTexture technology is very nice and all, but mostly developers and artists in particular make the most out of it. It loads quickly and scales rather nicely, but so does UE3.

Bethesda should look into this tech for any future Fallout titles.. The original Oblivion engine is so old in the tooth.

Bethesda is building a new engine for Skyrim, I'm pretty sure we're finally done with the Gamebryo engine... I hope. Another Fallout game would look amazing with id tech 5, so I hope they go that route. The only good thing about Gamebryo was how easy it was to modify for mods and stuff.

Yeah I think I'm definitely getting into it now. I have a few weapons and some good armor. I'm still pretty confused on some bits of the game though, like is there anyway to sleep or anything? I know my friend who I watched play later bits of the game could do that, with a sleeping bag or something. Not sure if that's special to the Complete mod, but being able to sleep at camps like in Fallout or something seems like it'd be nice. I also randomly died of radiation at one point, I used vodka and unequipped the artifact I had on that I think was causing it, but I just kept losing health even at a camp. It was weird.

Combat isn't as bad as I remember, still takes like a clip or two to take down a single enemy but oh well. Is it good to use iron sights in this game? In the random LP I was skimming over earlier the guy almost never used it and just unloaded on enemies and it seemed to somehow work ... lol.

The game crashed on me once when I was running back to the first camp. No idea why, hopefully that doesn't happen too often.

I'm digging it. It does feel a bit barren and simplistic, but maybe it gets better later.
