I have a keyboard and mouse too, but I only have a revision B modem, and not sure how I would go about getting that online without making a line voltage simulator...
I will take a look at what I need in the next few days, I REALLY want to get online on Quake 3 Arena and PSO on my Dreamcast.
I just got my Windows XP PC back up and running, so I hope I can do something with it.

I've moved the guide to onlineconsoles. Sever is more reliable there and there are more knowledgeable people who can help people out. Still need to get the images up there but should be soon.

While this guide does indeed work, I'd highly recommend buying a BBA instead.
If it turns out that online DC games isn't your thing, you can always sell the BBA and make back your money. You will however, not get back the time it takes to setup a pc-dc server.
While I can now set one up in 5minutes, it took me much much longer to set up my first one.

yeah I was reading over the guide last night and it seems crazy daunting. I was actually starting to think the same thing like, "hmm.... maybe I"ll just wait till I can afford a BBA..."
