Re: noiseredux' month of horror (movies)
My wife and I make October our horror movie month, and I usually stockpile horror DVDs so that we have enough to make it through. We recently subscribed to Netflix streaming, however; so, we have pretty much been streaming everything this month.
Of the movies we have seen so far, my favorites are:
Session 9 - excellent location, good atmosphere, hideous digital video
A Tale of Two Sisters - very good Korean horror film; it is like a Douglas Sirk film crossed with J-Horror
House of the Devil - incredible; one of my favorite horror films of all time
Let the Right One In - I am sure most of you have seen this; so, it needs no explanation
Vampyr - originally a silent film that was later dubbed in German; up there with Nosferatu as one of the best horror films of its era
The Creature from the Black Lagoon - classic Universal horror
We have a ton of horror movies on our streaming queue (including The Bad Seed and Child's Play), and I have a short stack of DVDs (including Drag Me to Hell, 28 Weeks Later, and Freddy vs. Jason); so, I think we are set for this month.

^House Of The Devil is stunning. Truly amazing. I remember after I saw that I was so excited to see everything else Ty West had done. The Roost was ok, but Cabin Fever 2 was literally one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It wasn't fun, it was just tasteless and stupid. Having said that, House Of The Devil is the most recent thing he's actually directed. I can only hope it's an indicatation that he's hit his stride, rather than him just getting lucky and stumbling into making an amazing movie.

so last night my wife put on Watcher In The Woods, but I was only half-watching while playing games. It's y'know, a creepy Disney movie -- kind of like when they did Return To Oz. But what I wanted to mention was the alternate ending. She put on the alt. ending and it's insane. I'm guessing Disney figured it was too scary for a Disney film. Did you know the watcher was actually an alien??? And he kind of looked like witness' accounts of mothman???

Wow, that's pretty creepy dude! Especially for a Disney film.
Next on my list:

5/5. Yet another classic slasher film from the 80s! One of the first things everyone always talks about with this film is the ending, which I won't discuss just in case there area readers here that have not seen it yet. I feel there was more to it than that while yes it definitely is a classic moment, it doesn't define the movie. It has a creepy factor to it that is tough to match w/ the atmosphere and the score which contributes greatly to this. It's worth a glance if you've never seen it and one of my personal favorites of all time. I highly recommend it. It's also followed by 3 sequels, which are ok for the most part but don't come close to the original. I was fortunate enough to purchase the boxed set of 1-3, titled : Sleepaway Camp: Survival Kit which includes some pretty good special features.

I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Dead-on assessment. The first is total 5/5 for me as well. And you're right, there's SOOOOO much to it other than the end. So much insane imagery with the flashbacks. How about the aunt that she moves in with? Nuts. I love. The second film is also a 5/5 for me. And in fact, I probably like the 2nd better, even if it is way cheesier. The third I like a lot, but not as much. Return To Sleepaway Camp, though kind of fun, was not even close to as good as the original trilogy. I have that boxset as well, whihc is nice, though I wish the found-footage from the proposed Pt. 4 was more substantial than the scant 20 mins of Angela sunbathing and random scenery shots that were included. Kind of a letodown.

Agreed on the lost footage for pt.4 in that set. From my understanding they are making a sequel to the Pamel Springsteen Angela to make it a trilogy and another sequel to the Felissa Rose ( she's HOT btw!!
) Angela series and so that will be a trilogy. To sum it up, yes, two more sequels but following two different storylines? We'll see.

yeah how did Felissa Rose grow up like that? Haha. Anyway, I'd definitely be thrilled to have more sequels in the series.

Are you guys strictly into the gore stuff, or do you go for the creepy paranormal type flicks too?

I'm into all kinds of horror. Gore/Slashers I would say would be my favorite among the genre but yeah, creepy paranormal works for me as well.
