Shenmue or Yakuza (or both)?

Post by ReddMcKnight »

I've heard that the Shenmue and Yakuza series (both by Sega) share a lot of similarities, which leads me to my question: Which one do YOU think is better? I just want to hear opinions, that's all. Thank you.

I love both but I would have go with Shenmue. It just has a certain charm to it that I love. That being said, both series are great and I think highly of both.

QFT. I can't stand Shenmue, but I'm okay with Yakuza. It's definitely not my favorite but I actually have FUN.

Personally it all depends on your taste.
Shenmue is more about exploring and getting to know the game world, while Yakuza is more on action and leveling up.

Yakuza level up by going around beating gang members, while Shenmue you level up as the story progress through finding scrolls or buying scrolls.

Both are very good games , and i cant say which one is better because i like them both. It just goes down to which one you prefer more rpg'ish game (shenmue) or action/rpg(yakuza).

Having finished Shenmue 1 and 2 and played Yakuza 2 somewhat i fail to see why these two series are always comapared.

Sure there is fighting and wandering around a city but i feel there is very different approach to that in both games.

Like you i played both of them and only thing i say is similiar or comparable is the design of the main character and that both are made my sega.

Well, I'm an RPG Fanatic, so it sounds like both would be the way to go. :)
