Should I update to Firefox 7?

There is a reload button in Firefox. It is on the right edge of the URL field. It takes a bit to get used to, but once you do you won't notice the difference. This turns into the STOP button when a page is loading as well.

So exactly like Safari, then.

It sounds like the people complaining about this Firefox didn't actually try it.

I've been using FF 7 for a while, I think it's ok. Takes a little getting used to, but it basically does to Firefox what Windows 7 did to Windows: streamlines and makes all the handy features harder to find. But after a while of using it, one accepts it.

I've noticed it seems to be the trend for PCs to become more like cell phones, and for cell phones to become more like PCs. That's nice for the phones, but I hate how Windows 8 is looking.

I've been using the Orbit theme since FF 2 so I installed it before even seeing what plain 5+ looked like with the stop/reload button. So yeah, check some themes if you don't like the button being far over.

I didn't like the status bar only being there when needed at first, but I've gotten used to it. If you move your cursor near it on the left while something is still loading it will hop out of the way to the right side too. My only real complaint with recent versions of FF is the occasional issues with pages that have embedded video.

Seems like they're making minor updates into full number updates instead of .x ones. I guess they are have adequacy issues next to IE, Opera, and Chrome's huge numbers. I don't mind the streamlining though- I usually run my firefox as stupidly minimalistic- only add-ons I use are adblock, greasemonkey, download statusbar (so I don't get a whole new window for downloads- that's annoying), and read it later.

The substantial incrementation of Firefox this time around holds many improvements. Including but not limited to :
1. Better memory management (average window takes up about 32 meg in memory now ads loaded and everything)
2. Better page rendering (now with graphics card acceleration )
3. Full-fledged HTML5 support.

All of this is good, but of no use if the UI sucks.

I don't understand the complaints about the UI. What exactly is wrong with it? It's pretty customizable. I could change the stuff that bothered me anyway.

How does it suck? 95% of the interface when you're browsing is the page you're looking at. Beyond that the most used things are creating or closing a tab, the address bar, the back button, and perhaps bookmarks.

Like I said, no reload button, no stop button, no status bar. The absolute worst is the "switch to tab" behavior. That screws up the order of my tabs royally. If I open a new tab and type an URL into the URL bar, then I want that URL loaded in that tab. The Firefox devs have decided that they know what I want, and I don't. That is mortal sin for any UI.

It has been pointed out that these are there. Just in a slightly different place. If you do 'customize toolbar' you can drag the stop/reload button back to the left if you wish. I was bothered by the fact I couldn't always have the status bar at first too, but if you're hovering over a link or if something would have been displayed in the status bar because a page is loading, it will be there. All clutter removal.

What? If I open a new tab and start typing, it is in the address bar for the new tab. It doesn't matter if I click the plus or do CRTL+T. I might have changed an option somewhere, but I don't understand what you're complaining about.
