Now see, this I can enjoy. He works waaaay better as a comedy character. You can't do comedy with Batman thoughSpaceBooger wrote:Damian worked so well with Dick as Batman... or any other witty fun loving character. Damian's missions with Stephanie Brown and the Teen Titans were classic comedy.Gamerforlife wrote:As for Batman and Robin # 1, I don't like Damien. The father/son friction between him and Bats isn't very appealing to me either. Damien makes Batman seem less cool, a common problem with stories that involve a Robin character. In this case though, it's because of how much he berates Batman. Plus, Batman as an angry dad chewing out his son just isn't very cool to me. Oh yeah, and Damien REALLY likes killing. Something I feel should be getting a much harsher reaction from a guy like Batman
Damian with Dick or Steph works on a "Sam and Max" level.

Wow, Penguin Pain and Prejudice is really good. It's supposed to be a five part series, but the first issue alone is a damn good Penguin story. This is what I like, character driven stuff, and this book really gives you a look inside the mind of this psycho

I didn't pick that one up... I may get it next week or wait until next month when the digital copy is $1.99. What made it so good?Gamerforlife wrote:Wow, Penguin Pain and Prejudice is really good. I just finished my reviews of last week's haul and I have to say that I am still loving O.M.A.C.
Not character driven at all... very reminiscent of the good old "Hulk Smash" comics.

Well, the book shows some backstory for Penguin, giving you perspective on why he became a villain. What's even better though is that it shows a darker, meaner version of present day Penguin than I've ever seen. He does some effed up stuff in this bookSpaceBooger wrote:I didn't pick that one up... I really like the tone of the book. Dark, moody, and a little twisted. The art is almost oppresively dark. It's a perfect Batman book and works on its own as a nice, character portrait of Penguin. However, they are apparently setting up some kind of plot since there are four more books

This reminds me of the Joker Asylum series that featured stories that showed the dark past and true nature of Batman's rouge gallery... I may have to pick this up sooner than later.Gamerforlife wrote:Well, the book shows some backstory for Penguin, giving you perspective on why he became a villain. Re: The Comic Book Thread
I've got a subscription setup with Midtown Comics. Every Wednesday they put aside the new comics that I've subscribed to and ship them to me on the same day. Anytime I want to order something off the subscription list they just add it to Wednesday's shipment so I don't pay extra shipping fees. It's real convenient and I don't have to worry about beating the crowd to my local shop before they run out of prints, lol.The Last Horseman wrote:How do you guys keep up with your comics? If you don't mind digital ComiXology has all DC books offered at 2pm same day as the print version. I like the digital viewer and if I had a smart phone/pad I would use it more often since your account can be viewed cross platform.
