Should I update to Firefox 7?
Re: Should I update to Firefox 7?
Edit: Apparently, in the week from when I downloaded FF 7, they came out with a "final version" that removed everything I liked about it. What the hell, Mozilla? How do I get my 7 beta back?

The only drawback to Chrome afaict is that its extensions library is still small compared to Firefox's. Is there a Greasemonkey equivalent for Chrome? Oh and the 64-bit build is taking its sweet time coming.

Re: Should I update to Firefox 7?
I thought you guys were joking about there being so many versions of Firefox, then I realized you aren't...
They are at version 7 already?! I remember 4 coming out like 6 months ago or something. I hated it, so I went back to 3.
They are still continuing with the trend of removing buttons? Fuck that. I'm sticking with Firefox 3.

Why would "no reload button" be a reason to not use the software? Safari has a reload button, but I doubt I have ever used it. I press command+r. "Stop" button? The esc key, although I'm not sure when I would ever tell my browser to stop.

Why not have both? I use both (buttons and shortcuts) depending on which is more convenient. It's not like these navigation buttons take up a lot of space.Zing wrote:Why would "no reload button" be a reason to not use the software? Safari has a reload button, but I doubt I have ever used it. I'm using the Orbit theme for FF and it has a button that is reload when a page is done and stop when it is still loading. However you can always hit ESC to stop and F5 to reload.

Greasemonkey is actually natively supported on Chrome.Pulsar_t wrote:The only drawback to Chrome afaict is that its extensions library is still small compared to Firefox's. Is there a Greasemonkey equivalent for Chrome? Oh and the 64-bit build is taking its sweet time coming.

I still think 2 was the best. I tried both 4 and 5 and hated it, so I've been sticking with 3. Even 3 still gets updates off and on which is funny. But this one has the most plugins I like, and everything. Works for me.
Re: Should I update to Firefox 7?
There is a reload button in Firefox. It is on the right edge of the URL field. It takes a bit to get used to, but once you do you won't notice the difference. This turns into the STOP button when a page is loading as well. The status bar is at the bottom left of the browser. It appears when you hover over a link or a page is loading. The browser is definitely usable and I find it far more versatile and less error-prone than Chrome. Firefox 4 definitely picked up on the speed.
The substantial incrementation of Firefox this time around holds many improvements. Including but not limited to :
1. Better memory management (average window takes up about 32 meg in memory now ads loaded and everything)
2. Better page rendering (now with graphics card acceleration )
3. Full-fledged HTML5 support.
