Do you always keep your systems plugged in?
Re: Do you always keep your systems plugged in?
All systems are plugged in at all times except for the Wii because it is currently busy collecting the largest amount of dust of any console ever.

I know what you mean, except my Saturn collects even more.Redifer wrote:All systems are plugged in at all times except for the Wii because it is currently busy collecting the largest amount of dust of any console ever.

I keep mine plugged into power strips with on/off switches all the time, but I generally flip the switch to off when I'm not using any of the consoles. I have two set-ups though. The current gen set-up usually just stays on because I use it more often since it's used for movies/tv/etc. as well as games.

This is blasphemous guys! Wii and Saturn are both great systems.BoringSupreez wrote:I know what you mean, except my Saturn collects even more.Redifer wrote:All systems are plugged in at all times except for the Wii because it is currently busy collecting the largest amount of dust of any console ever.
I wish I could keep more than one system plugged in. My game room is rather tiny so I can only have one system hooked up at a time. Since I usually play RPGs, once I hook a system up it usually stays hooked up 1-2 weeks or however long it takes me to finish the game. All other consoles are on shelves.
My biggest problem is that I'm physically running out of space in this room. I dunno what I'm going to do if I get more games/systems.

I bet my Wii has more dust than your Saturn. Let me go measure....BoringSupreez wrote:I know what you mean, except my Saturn collects even more.Redifer wrote:All systems are plugged in at all times except for the Wii because it is currently busy collecting the largest amount of dust of any console ever.
**measures dust amount on Wii**
3 feet of dust on the Wii.

I was the same with my Wii 'til this year, then I actively start scoping things out for it as a matter of interest. I found gems like Muramasa, Captain Rainbow, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Xenoblade et al. It's kind of a hard system to appreciate from an American perspective, I guess, since NoA seem intent on trolling you guys with refusing to localize even translated projects.
Re: Do you always keep your systems plugged in?
Yes. I have a set of power squids plugged into a surge protector. I just hit the surge protector switch when I want to play, and hit it again when I'm done. There's no plugging and unplugging, and there's no leakage current, or risk of a power surge when the power strip is off.
I also have 4 AV switches plugged into a 5th. It can be hard to remember what sequence of buttons you have to press to get to which console though. I'd really like a good 24 port AV switch, but those are prohibitively expensive.
Even with all of this, there's not enough room for everything. My Atari 5200, 7800, 600XL, TI 99/4A, TRS-80 Model IV, Tandy CoCo, and Intellivision are currently packed away. I try to rotate them once in a while.

Or replace the 5 switches with auto switches. Still wont be as nice as a consolidated switch, but at least you wont have to mess around with buttons.Hatta wrote:I also have 4 AV switches plugged into a 5th. Right now I have the Saturn, Dreamcast and 360 plugged in. I have a power stick, so I guess that is the same thing right? If a surge happens it protects the systems I believe.

But then you've got those drawing power all the time.Ziggy587 wrote: Or replace the 5 switches with auto switches. Still wont be as nice as a consolidated switch, but at least you wont have to mess around with buttons.
