I'm looking to pick up an xbox 360 slim 250GB from Craigslist. What's the best way to distinguish the 4GB from the 250GB models? Is it just by the finish (250GB is glossy, not matte). Are there any other easy ways?
One seller was unsure if it was 4GB or 250GB and I would like an easy way for her to check before going to pick it up since she is not close by. Thanks!

I read somewhere that it's glossy finish for older models (before Aug 2011) but afterwards, it will have the same matte finish as the 4GB models. So it would be good to have a way to distinguish them other than case color.

See if there is a hard drive in there. That's a pretty easy way. There's a door on the side of the machine you can open up. Or just turn it on and check in the "memory" section, I believe.

4GB and 250GB don't have cosmetic differences. It's not like back when we had the Xbox 360 Core and Premium. The only thing that makes a 4GB different than a 250GB is the lack of a hard-drive, which you can always purchase later.

Not totally true.BoringSupreez wrote:4GB and 250GB don't have cosmetic differences. It's not like back when we had the Xbox 360 Core and Premium. The only thing that makes a 4GB different than a 250GB is the lack of a hard-drive, which you can always purchase later.
4GB models are matte. And 250GB models are glossy (and ugly). Although a previous poster says that they're now all matte. Which, if true, would be a good change.

I would love to see them all go to matte. Why did Microsoft decide to go with that when they surely saw how terrible the fat PS3s looked?ZenErik wrote:4GB models are matte.
