list of shmups for genesis

when sega-16 got hacked they must have lost their genre spotlight extravaganza articles, which is a shame. i am trying to make a list of games to buy and need some help. so if you guys can add to my list of genesis shmups that would be great. their original list of games included games like atomic robo kid, sub-terrania, air driver, etc. i don't want these games. i just want traditional shmups: horizontal or vertical. also, no imports.

thunder force II - not really a traditional shmup, but it is every other level

That it was not actually, I just double checked wiki and I don't own it myself but I swear I've seen carts of it before in stores, heh.

Probably worth noting though that Thunder Force IV is called "Lightning Force: Quest for the Darkstar" here in America. Talk about a mouth full.

Been playing Genesis like crazy lately.. mostly Thunderforce III, and IV (Lightening Force) Gaiares... unfortunately my copy of Darius II doesn't work.. Boo!

Thunderforce III is probably my favorite.. just can't get enough of the music, the levels, everything. Not too hard, but not a cakewalk to beat it with 1 continue either. IV is awesome too, but I don't really like the scrolling up and down because the levels are so large. Would rather have it scaled down to all fit on screen. Plus the music isn't nearly as catchy and melodic as III.. although still quite good.

Recently bought Thunderforce II but so far having a hard time getting passed the first level, haha.. I don't like the top down levels.. but want to check out the more traditional horizontal levels. will have to get back to that soon.
