Zing wrote:"oXbox"? I have never heard that term before. The two systems have always been regarded as "Xbox" or "360".

What's next? oWii?
None of my friends know what I'm talking about unless I say "original Xbox" or type oXbox. Most of them assume I'm talking about the 360 otherwise.
Like you said, unless one says oXbox, many people assume one means the 360, since it's much more popular than the original was, in addition to the fact that the 360 is current while the oXbox has been dead for 4 years.
That's so weird. All my friends say 360, and if I ever say "XBOX", they first ask, "360?".

The original Halo was good for what it was (a decent shooter on a control pad). However, the fact that the later half of the game is just backtracking is really annoying. If you don't really care about the story, try Halo 2. It's better in every way. I consider it the high point in the series.
Halo 2 is still my favorite by far. The story isn't as good as the first, but it still holds up. The multiplayer is where it shines, though. Plus all of the DLC but two maps can be purchased cheap on the Multiplayer Map Pack disk.
What happened to the good old days when everyone loved to hate Halo 2? It used to be the MGS2 of the Halo series. It was described as "the black sheep," everyone hated the abrupt cliffhanger ending, didn't want to play as the Arbiter, thought the swords broke the gameplay, missed the powerful pistol, etc. Not that I think all that stuff.

I hated the cliffhanger, but I liked playing as the Arbiter, and I thought the pistols were pretty fun to dual wield.

Dual wielding a SMG/Pistol combo was pretty good, too. It was useful with anything but the Needler, really. Though the Needler really isn't good with anything.

As someone who primarily plays the Halo games for the campaigns, I agree with Ryan that Halo 2 is the pinnacle of the series. Reach would be the next best, followed by Halo 1, Halo 3, and ODST.

For multiplayer, I'd say that each has gotten better over the years.

Reach was fun but they screwed the story of The Fall of Reach. Read the original version (they re-wrote it before releasing Reach) and you'll see where they changed the story. For me, campaign-wise, it would be Halo 1, Halo 2, ODST, Halo Wars, Halo 3, Reach. For multiplayer, though, they've gone downhill for me since Halo 2. My only real complaint with 3 was that the maps weren't as good as the previous titles. Reach just doesn't feel the same to me at all, though.

I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but for the price, a softmodded oXbox + XBMC + Component Cables is the best media center you can buy. Just mod it, install XBMC, drop in a 500 GB HDD, maybe get a remote, and you've got yourself a combination gaming machine and media player, for a total cost that easily is under $80. You can even skip the hard drive upgrade and save about $50, but then you're pretty much just restricted to streaming, which is just fine if you already have a media server. It gets really neat if you take the time to customize XBMC and make it look really nice. It's absolutely gorgeous to see it running on the oXbox in 1080i.

Halo 2 is easily my favorite xbox game, probably in my top 5 favorites on any console.
@OP do you have counterstrike? I got it for $3 from gamestop a few years ago, absolute steal for how much I've played it.

I have to admit I haven't played the good ol' xbox in a bit, but it wasn't that long ago that it was my main console to play. Mostly MK deception, Metal Slug 3, KoF 02, SVC Chaos, Outrun 2 coast to coast, Def Jam fight for NY, Capcom Classics vol.1, Midway Arcade vol.2 and Tetris wolds. As a matter of fact my cousin got super into the oXbox after selling him a copy of the Warriors! We played together about a month ago. Fun stuff :)

I still play it occasionally to play games that aren't backwards compatible... mostly w/ friends for our crappy review show. Most of the games I liked are BC, like Phantom Dust and Stubbs the Zombie.

There is an Xbox game that I've never played, though, that I want to - Metal Wolf Chaos. (import only). that game looked amazing.
