I was thinking about starting a topic for this, but I figured I'd just post it here.
So question, for those of you who still buy modern games. Is anyone else sick of the industry's insistence on bombing the hell out of us with major releases in the last three months of the year?
I don't know about anyone else, but I've got a shit ton of games I'm interested in all coming out in the next three months (mostly November) and a couple more early next year.
I can't buy them all, and even if I could, where's the time to play them all?
I know they want to capitalize on the holidays, but would it really be so damn bad to release a few big titles during the "drought" months of the year? Its getting ridiculous. I haven't even caught up to some of last year's releases.

If you haven't even caught up on some of last year's releases, then why be bothered with the drought?...CFFJR wrote:I was thinking about starting a topic for this, but I figured I'd just post it here.

Just enjoy the games you still have to play, and buy the new ones later when they are discounted...

Oh I have no problem with the drought. It is of course the perfect time to catch up on stuff. I'm just saying they should space it out more, as that's also the perfect time to release some big new games. Which ever company actually had the nuts to do it wouldn't have any competition, since everyone else would be fighting it out over the holidays.elmagicochrisg wrote: If you haven't even caught up on some of last year's releases, then why be bothered with the drought?...

I'm not exaggerating when I say there's over a dozen games coming out in the next three months that I really want. Its crazy.
Of course I do love those discount prices later on. Except Nintendo games of course. Those damn things never go down. They're still charging 50 bucks for Mario Galaxy 1 for god's sake. Its four years old! Time for a price cut! (I bought it years ago, but still).
Sorry for the tangent.
Anyway, never mind me. I'm just making noise.
After all, having too many good games to play is a very nice problem to have right?

Maybe you should be dirt poor for two years CFFJR, TEACH YOU SOME LESSONS! lol
Happened to me and I don't really care anymore about missing out on so many games or feeling that urge to keep up with everything. It's not a race, so I'll get to play some stuff whenever I can, just "when it happens" (and borrow some games here and there from some friends).
I did Gamefly for a few years too and I think that also helped me save tons of money in the long run.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I was just kind of kidding myself and didn't get that impression about you, lol. But yeah personally I do think it's been kind of a good lesson for myself. In the random times that I have had money or something, I think my purchases have been much better too. I think I literally only bought like 10 brand new games last year which is crazy for me, but I'm not complaining. Now I'm just playing tons of stuff in my backlog, or hitting up a bunch of games via emulation I've been wanting to play for years, etc. By the time I get around to a lot of new stuff it'll all probably be really cheap, so can't complain there. That's all me though. I've just cooled off a lot over the last year or so on keeping up with new games, gaming sites, and things like that... just got tedious to me after awhile, lol.
Also hurry and beat Zero 4 so we can talk about the most epic final fight in a Megaman game.
