best versions of the rayman games
so im looking to get into the rayman series (first 3 none of the spinoff crap) and i own all of the consoles they appeared on except for the jaguar and i dont want to emulate on pc so which consoles do i play them on. i assume the first one is best on the saturn as everything 2d is best on the saturn.

Re: best versions of the rayman games
I've heard Rayman on the Jaguar is pretty good.

Re: best versions of the rayman games
as i said before i dont have a jaguar
and they are too expensive for me to purchase one and the rayman game.

Re: best versions of the rayman games
I've never made the comparisons myself, but as I understand it, the best versions of Rayman 1 and 2 are on Saturn and Dreamcast respectively.
I've never heard anything specific when it comes to Rayman 3, though I'd guess that the xbox version would be best.

Rayman is best on Saturn or DSi, take your pick.
Older. Not wiser.

lol, I was looking over GOG last night and saw Rayman 3 up there, I always forget that game exists.CFFJR wrote:I've never made the comparisons myself, but as I understand it, the best versions of Rayman 1 and 2 are on Saturn and Dreamcast respectively.

Ha, yeah it didn't get the same attention that the first two did.

Re: best versions of the rayman games
Definitely didn't look bad, but yeah.
I wonder how Rayman 2 PC measures up to the Dreamcast version though? I'd imagine they might be neck and neck, best resolutions on both and all (and hopefully you can play 2 on the PC with a controller?), it's kind of tempting...

Mm, couldn't tell ya. The only one I ever played (briefly) was the Dreamcast version.
But hell, its hard to go wrong with PC. I say give it a shot.
Even if the game doesn't technically support controllers (though I'd be surprised if it didn't), you can force it by using Xpadder or something similar.

Re: best versions of the rayman games
As I understand it, here is how the console/handheld ports of the main Rayman games stack up:
Best <--------> Worst
Rayman:
Saturn > Jaguar > DSi > PlayStation > GBA > GBC
Rayman 2:
PS2 > Dreamcast > N64 > PlayStation > iOS > DS
Rayman 3:
Gamecube > Xbox > PS2
