Probably Europeans. The dollar currency is very interesting atm. 152 usd is about 98 euro's.
Which Dreamcast Games Still Matter?
I was thinking about it, but I'm going to wait for a bit and see how it goes. Be sure to post some reviews when you get it!3style wrote:Also preordered this game. Do you guys think Last Hope really matters? There are hundreds of DC games that are way better. It is an unbalanced game with terrible laggy controls (inertia of ship), uninspired bosses, seemingly a focus on background graphics instead of gameplay, poorly and unimaginatively placed enemies, a hard difficulty which is not a "fun" kind of hard, and awful music (really personal preference here). And the guys who made it refused to let anyone play-test it before releasing it, and ignored suggestions from experienced players when it came time to update for the DC port.
Honestly that makes me entirely not interested in DUX, either. I'm always disappointed by euroshmups...Soldner-X, Nanostray, Tyrian, X2...just not my cup of tea. The pictures look great but the gameplay is never anywhere close to being tight like Thunder Force or DoDonPachi or any number of superior games.

Top games that still matter to the average gamer that likes all kinds of games (IMO)
1. Unreal Tournament
2. Jet Grind Radio (better than Future IMO)
3. Resident Evil Code Veronica
4. Shenmue
5. Blue Stinger
6. Quake III Arena (you cannot say this didnt have an effect on online console gaming)
7. Sega Rally
8. Daytona
9. Crazy Taxi (best suited for the DC controller)
10.Virtua Tennis
11.Various PSX Capcom ports (Dino Crisis in perticular)
12.Shenmue 2
13.Half Life (DOWNLOAD IT OFF THE INTERNET IT ROCKS)
14.Various unrealesed games
15.Emulation (so you dont have to buy a PSX for Dino Crisis 2
)
And even though its not a game i still say the VMU is the best memory card ever, and perhaps in the top 10 reasons to own a Dreamcast

Older. Not wiser.
I was the only one to include Last Hope in a list of "Dreamcast Games that Still Matter," so I suppose I will defend that decision here. I didn't believe that quality was a prerequisite to relevance. Without new shoot 'em ups like Last Hope, the Dreamcast itself wouldn't matter so much. The game generated buzz, and mixed reviews were better than no game to review at all - at this point in the Dreamcast's life.doctorfugue wrote:Do you guys think Last Hope really matters? The emulation community has been practically nonexistent for years, the homebrew community is small, and that just leaves the Jolly Roger of the piracy community to keep Dreamcast games relevant after the new releases stop coming.

Ahhh...I understand. Thanks for clearing that up. It definitely matters that people respect the DC enough to build such a strong community around it...I just wish some of the post-mortem games were better. I shouldn't complain, I guess something is better than nothing!RackGaki wrote:I was the only one to include Last Hope in a list of "Dreamcast Games that Still Matter," so I suppose I will defend that decision here. The reason why the phantasy games wouldnt matter so much anymore is because of the server pull sega did which leaves only personal servers up. Great games though. Ionno i would say EGG. I havent seen a game with hand drawn backgrounds in a long time. Miss games that take you to another world and not just a different location in yours. Maken X is a wonderful game and it isnt the best storylined game in the world but its great. I actually have come to respect games like that. I like Test Drive Le Mans but definitely F355 is better. And the majority of the fighting games on the DC are obvious since every port after has sucked. The few to mention that i didnt catch yet would be Fatal Fury:MOTW, Capcom vs Snk 2,and The Last Blade 2. Then of course there are the timeless gems that can be played at parties and what not and we all already know what games those are. Oh Dreamcast, been so goodto us all these years.
