I was in line last night getting a case of beer for my friends and I for MNF, and the lines were slammed. Two carts in front of me, both with overflowing carts. The meanie bo-feanies even looked at me and noticed I only had one, heavy item, and still proceeded to chuck their diabetes enabling groceries on the belt. I don't expect favors from everyone, but c'mon. There's a line between not being super nice, and then just being inconsiderate. And the poor clerk was working by herself, and had to bag all the groceries.
This used to happen to me constantly at work, because there was always that handful of people who all decided to come to wal-mart at 3am to buy giant overflowing cartfuls of groceries. Having to waste half your lunch waiting in line is crap.

Recently though they've started opening up one of the 20 items or less registers during lunch hours so i'm able to just clear straight through, but still.

In the northeast, there are Stop-n-Shop stores that give you handheld scanners when you enter the store. You swipe your savers card and then pick up the scanner. So I take my cart and go through the store scanning the items that I buy and bagging at the same time. When I get to the checkout line, I just scan the "at checkout line" code, then swipe my card, swipe the credit card, and I'm done. Awesome feature.

However, you can get subjected to an audit. I remember one time I was at the checkout line and it says "assistance requested". I'm puzzled and the clerk comes over. She takes 3-4 things out of my bag and scans them. Then she press ok and I'm done. It looks like they do a random spot check audit to make sure you're not a shoplifter. It only happened to me once out of ~30 some odd times.

1.) Your video is much funnier than mine.
2.) Reno 911 has a lot of characters that wear short shorts.

If I hadn't been given a friend's old one with a nice grandfathered prepay plan I might still not have one. I hate chatting on the phone and don't often need it when I'm out. I buy $50 worth of minutes and it lasts me 6 months or more.

I still see plenty of payphones where I live, but I frequently drive through the poor part of town, might account for that.
