If you have a DS you should buy 'My Japanese Coach'. It looks very interesting... ^^Sideroller wrote:*learning Japanese*

Just a note, but I've heard from a few different sources that My Japanese Coach contains some errors and I think they were related to conjugation. I've also heard it's very beginner's level, which probably means it's good for learning katakana/hiragana. I've never used it, but I would look into whether those errors actually exist and what they are so that you don't start to cement something wrong when learning.elmagicochrisg wrote:If you have a DS you should buy 'My Japanese Coach'. Oh, and Sideroller, I wrote Ganbatte, which I like to translate as persevere or good luck depending on context.

I've looked it up and it seems you are right. Maybe best to avoid it altogether then. Thanks for letting us know... ^^Czernobog wrote:Just a note, but I've heard from a few different sources that My Japanese Coach contains some errors and I think they were related to conjugation. Screw 20 Items or less, there needs to be a line in grocery stores for people with 1 item. I always let the 1 itemers go ahead of me, a favor that hasn't been reciprocated.
I was in line last night getting a case of beer for my friends and I for MNF, and the lines were slammed. Two carts in front of me, both with overflowing carts. The meanie bo-feanies even looked at me and noticed I only had one, heavy item, and still proceeded to chuck their diabetes enabling groceries on the belt. I don't expect favors from everyone, but c'mon. There's a line between not being super nice, and then just being inconsiderate. And the poor clerk was working by herself, and had to bag all the groceries.
Again, c'mon. If someone is slammed at the counter, why not help out a bit and bag your own groceries. I actually prefer bagging my own groceries so I don't end up with bread on the bottom of a bag and also that my household cleaners aren't in the same bag as my fresh meat.
Well, while I'm on it, people should have to pass a test in order to use the self check out. Smearing the upc code on the scanner doesn't help it read better people. Most of the self checkout aisles take longer to go through because of these people.
...and what's the deal with airline peanuts?

Indeed. I usually use the self checkout even with a full load of groceries since I will be done faster than waiting on the full service lanes behind several other full load people in them. I'm always amazed at the occasional bewildered person at the self checkout just standing there while the machine tells them to put the item back on the bagging area 5 times. Even if you don't know it works on weight, just do what it says.Luke wrote:Well, while I'm on it, people should have to pass a test in order to use the self check out. I love the ones where you can control the volume, especially when purchasing nuts in bulk. The entire store can hear "Please place your...Nuts...in the bag". I'm sure you could probably prank a few with the machine as well. "Please place your...Kitchen Knife...in the bag. Please place your...duct tape...in the bag. Please place your...garbage bags...in the bag. Please place your...bleach...in the bag. Please place your...rubber gloves...in the bag. Please place your...air freshener...in the bag...Hobie-wan wrote: Indeed. Those self-check computers are great. I save a lot of time thanks to them.
Execpt when that people Luke mentions is coping every single machine. Uuuugh.
At least it's better than old ladys that "accidentally" cut in line and have to be "remembered" so.

@ Luke
None of the ones around here say the specific name. They just say 'item'.
