Re: How demanding are you with games?
I'm not too demanding, but, if an hour into the game I'm not having fun, I usually shelf it. Though there are exceptions, especially if the story is good. Heavy Rain is a good example. I didn't have a whole lot of fun, but the story managed to grip me. Obviously we all have certain genres we enjoy more than others, and I'll probably be more critical of a genre I really enjoy as I'm more experienced with those kinds of games.
Older. Not wiser.

I'm open to trying almost any game, but I will only complete a few.

Re: How demanding are you with games?
Honestly, I have pretty much no standards.
The way I put that sounds bad, but the truth is that I'll play anything that catches my interest in even the slightest way.
I never thought for example, that I'd ever really get into an mmo. Yet for the past month I've been playing Rift and loving it.
So I can't really rule out any genre. As it stands, I don't really like simulation or RTS, but there's a good chance I just haven't played the right game yet and that I'll change my mind.
If I end up not enjoying a particular game for whatever reason, so be it, but word of mouth from reviews or other people is never good enough for me. I have to play it and find a reason myself, and 9 times out 10 I completely overlook other people's complaints about a game.

I only got onto VGG to get GG for BGG. But adding hardware takes forever. I have a list of about 1000 items to add (some from your collection pictures) and well it just rakes on you when you put in items to get approved and they are not approved for three weeks. I took alot of cart pictures, but their rules are so strict (one picture per type is silly, but I guess it is needed so it doesnt endup like BGG).crux wrote:Hah! crux was taken.fastbilly1 wrote:I knew that was you on BGG, sporting a K instead of a C(See: Kruks, my Xbox Live and PSN name.) I keep running into people from various video game sites there. I'll put my footprint on VGG some day in the near future since I have a metric ton of uploads to contribute (see above reference to 700 games). I spend most of my time on the BGG end of things though.
The main reason I wanted GG was because I was told by others you can spend GG at the geekstore and I wanted the Dominion promos. But it turns out you can only use them for auctions...

I'll just go with this.Luke wrote:Too subjective of a question to answer. I'll just say I play games I like and will try any game for funsies.

I'll be totally honest - I really don't get the whole board game and pen and paper RPG thing. Sounds weird coming from a retro gamer like myself, but it's like a whole different and weird world to me. I gave it a go once or twice, but maybe I just don't have the imagination or patience for non-digital gaming.fastbilly1 wrote:I only got onto VGG to get GG for BGG. But adding hardware takes forever. In reply to the main topic, that really is too subjective. There's been some great games I've just not given the time of the day when they failed to grip me immediately whilst there have been some not-so-great games that I have become addicted too right away.

To not go too offtopic: Typically that just means you havent found the right game for you. We can talk later on this, or in another topic.alienjesus wrote:I'll be totally honest - I really don't get the whole board game and pen and paper RPG thing. And since I realized I havent posted about the actual topic yet. To quote a friend of mine "I consider myself to be an omnivorous gamer, as in - I'll play almost any game (at least once!)." Ive owned a lot of crappy games, Ive played even more. But even in a crappy game you can get fun. One of my favorite games to play with people of all ages is Ribbit King on the Gamecube. It is a "bad" golf like game using frogs, catapults, and hammers. It is actually alot of fun and Ive never found anyone who didnt give it a chance who didnt atleast have fun. The entire point of videogames, or any games, is to have fun. Once you forget that, well you need to take a step back and look at the hobby again.

Or the right DM. Having a good DM makes more of a difference than what game you play. It's also a lot harder to find a good DM.fastbilly1 wrote:To not go too offtopic: Typically that just means you havent found the right game for you.
