Got to Stage 2. I kinda suck at this game but I'm having fun so far.

Ahh, that screen shot with the shot gun is making me want to take another stab at it. Is that from 2 on the genesis/mega drive?

edit: ahh, I see, you are playing the first one emulated. Please tell me you can get the shot gun in the version I'm playing!

the original Splatterhouse isn't on Genesis/MD -- it's arcade, TG16/PCE and FM Towns Marty. (And PS3/360 as an unlockable on Splatterhouse 2010).

ANYWAY, I couldn't get MAME to run it on DC, so I was playing the PCE version again. Sadly, it tends to freeze up before I can beat the chainsaw bastard. Which sucks, because with the right tweaks it runs at perfect speed.

SO I guess I'm gonna have to see if I've already unlocked it on PS3...

the painting is easily the hardest part of that room.

Here's my strategy:

1. stand all the way to the right until shit stops falling.
2. THE CHAIR - push it to the left with punches so that it just keeps bouncing off the wall like a raquetball game.
3. THE KNIFE - when it goes up in the air, take a step or two back and just throw punches standing still. It'll usually come at yr face but you will punch it.
4. THE KNIVES - a little harder. What you really wanna do is stand in the center, and when the first knife comes down on you just kick/punch it so that both knives end up on the same side of the room. Now they're a little easier to handle since they're coming from the same direction. THen just repeat the strategy from step 3.
5. THE PAINTING - total jerk. I don't really have a strategy for him other than "try not to get hit too much."
6. THE CHANDELIER - (did I spell that right? Probably not) Don't forget to get out of the way so it doesn't fall on you!
