I've pondered moving to the Niagra region in Ontario, which is pretty much upstate NY-Canada. If I ever do, my location on my profile will definitely state it. As of now, my closes major city is probably Minneapolis/St. Paul at 6-8 hours drive away.

Huh. I've been under the impression that you're in British Columbia for months now. I've been to Ontario before, that's not "Canadian wilderness" by any stretch.

You mean you've been to Southern Ontario, where people actually live. Toronto, Niagara Falls, Windsor (Canadian side of Detroit), etc. I'm in Northwest Ontario. It is just as "wilderness" as anywhere in BC that isn't within a few hours of Vancouver.

Haha, as you can see, that's about 1000 miles (or 1600km) east of me.

Thunder Bay is the "big" city in the area, with a grand total of about 110,000 people. The cities/towns you can see on the map within about 300-400 miles are Nipigon, Geraldton, Fort Frances, Dryden and Kenora. The biggest is Kenora (about 15,000 people), F.Frances (maybe 20,000, with half on the Canadian side and half on the US) and Dryden (less than 10,000). I guess Duluth is a 3-4 hour drive away, and is not much bigger than Thunder Bay. The whole population of the region within a 5 hour drive each way (within Canada) is probably less than 200,000 people.

Definitely the Canadian wilderness.

Hey, mjmjr25, do you ski or snowboard? I learned at Giant's Ridge near Virginia, MN. You probably have been to Lutsen more I would guess.

^I don't anymore -did growing up. Ski'd Lutsen and Giants Ridge many times. My wife lived in Ely for 5 years, which I think is about 75 minutes south of you. She cut her teeth in the Boundary Waters

But...did most skiing in Duluth, at Spirit Mountain and a little at Mont Du Lac. Once the kids are a bit older, we plan on taking up snowshoeing - we have a decent property w/plenty of woods and trails.
