Game Database: Greatest Hits & Such

Post by racketboy »

I've been cleaning up some data for the game database (yes, I'm still working on it) and came across a new thought....
With Greatest Hits releases (and similar variations), should I have them as separate entries or should I add an extra field or whatever to list the variations of a certain port?

It better be a long extra field, so we can list our "Resident Evil Greatest Hits Director's Cut Dual Shock" titles.

If it's got a bonus disc, extras or a playable demo, then I'd say give it another listing. If you can have a little note saying it was a re-release or greatest hits or platinum edition or whatever that seem cool to me. Don't waste your time on all those extra entries!

That would be cool, I was kinda thinking about that too. An maybe have the release date and what not listed next the the players hoice, and greatest hits lines.

I really dont know why people care about budget re-printings of games. Unless there are substantial differences in the game, (new soundtrack in RE1:DCGH) I say it's not worth noting.

Yeah -- when the side of the case is a different color, it makes me unhappy.

of course it is a bit snobby, seeing as we could just scan/print the black art insert. also have you noticed the reprinted mnuals are somewhat of a lesser grade. attn. resident evil 1 on gc.

I've never analyzed reprint quality, but I think I'd rather have authentic GH than fake standard color :)
