Dayum Zero 3 is amazing so far.

Yeah I gotta say guys, if you haven't hit up the Zero games yet, I might recommend the marathon method with these. It's really awesome hitting them up back to back.

Following it up with ZX and ZXA isn't a bad way to cap off the marathon since they are essentially the Megaman Zero series 200 years later.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I didn't like ZX all that much honestly, but I've played it nonetheless. Haven't played ZXA though.

I'm a little confused about some aspects of Zero 3 so far (probably skimming the text too quickly, lol).
- What's the point of cyberspace in the stages?
- I'm seeing that using Fusion Cyber Elves reduces your rank, which I'm not too worried about (and I seem to be keeping higher ranks than the previous two games), but say... did I screw myself over by using a vitality boosting Cyber Elf instantly without upgrading it? Would upgrading it have given the boost a bigger effect? Kind of worried about that one, lol ... too late anyways. Some of the other Cyber Elves actually sound useful this time around, but yeah it's a bit confusing.

Looks like you need to beat bosses on A/S ranks to get EX Skills?

Cyberspace is supposed to make levels easier - but it lowers your rank. In Japan I think it also had something to do with the E-Reader cards.

You get EX skills at those high ranks - which can make it really hard to get some of the neater abilities. There are a few tricks, though.

You hold your A or S rank until you successfully complete a mission - so if you practice the very first level you can get at least one EX skill without much effort. There are 3 or 4 cyberelves that will bump your rank to A for one level - and then you still get the EX skill, even if you suck against the boss and get lowered down again.

Interesting, I guess I'm glad I only went through Cyberspace once or twice so far. I kind of figured they did the opposite and made the levels tougher perhaps, haha... not that I did any comparisons. Guess I'll just avoid them.

If you redo levels do you actually fight the bosses over again in this one? Guess I could maybe look into the better EX skills and use those cyberelves to try and get them.

I think I lucked out and got the one from the first stage, or it was the first selectable level. Got the Burst/Explosion shot or something like that, equipped with fire it makes charged buster shots explode. Pretty cool.

But yeah, been hovering in B/C range in this one after losing the S/A rank after a few levels. I was C/D in the first two, haha.

For the record, I started up Zero as well. I'm enjoying it so far. I got my butt kicked by that elephant boss a few times, but once I got adjusted I beat him (and a few others) and I've been making progress.

Its doing a good job of making me feel bad for Zero, what with his amnesia. Which is impressive to me, since I never cared for him much in the X series.

The game makes me feel...lonely, if that makes sense. I got the same feeling when I played ZX.

I'm also playing Mega Man 1 via Wily Wars (emulated), and Mega Man 9 on 360.

Mega Mood.

Nice, will be curious to hear your updates since I'm playing them now too, heh. I dunno how I feel about Zero in this series, he's definitely different... but doesn't speak much. Ciel is pretty cool.

Yeah the entire first game has that kind of vibe. Like I said earlier, it really feels like a small prelude to bigger things to come that start up with Zero 2, and Zero 3 kicks off things really well. The music gets way better too after the first game I thought.

Wily Wars yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Ok, I beat Zero just a few minutes ago.

First off, I see why this series has a reputation for being a kick in the ass.

Overall, I didn't have too much trouble. The levels are all fairly short, so its easy to practice the more difficult stuff. But the first fight with Phantom, and finding the bombs afterward, was a real bitch for me. Same goes for the first form of X.

Sometimes I'll get stuck in a mode where I'll recognize a pattern, but it takes me a long time to catch up enough to capitalize on it you know? Once I had it down it became easy (I spanked Phantom the second time I fought him) but it was troublesome until then.

Having said that, the second form of X was very easy. It all looks very intimidating, but he telegraphs his moves miles in advance and they're all very easy to dodge. Simple stuff.

Overall I'm happy. It was a fun game, and there were a lot of fun battles. I'll start up the second one soon.

Catching up!

Yeah the final boss battles were super easy in both Zero 1 and 2 so far.

AWESOME ending to Zero 3. Loved it, great buildup. If Zero 4 somehow tops that I'll be really impressed.
