I emulated a little Rockman & Forte on the Wonderswan.
It was... decent...
Mega Man X series post MMX3- Are they worth playing?
Re: Mega Man X series post MMX3- Are they worth playing?
Beat Zero 2. Definitely enjoyed it a bit more than the first game honestly (although I missed the spin jump attack). The music was really improved as well, better story, and I didn't mind it going back to being strictly level based. I'll probably give it a little time before I hit up Zero 3-4, but definitely looking forward to it now.

Wow, that was fast.Xeogred wrote:Beat Zero 2.
I've been meaning to play the Zero games for years, and still haven't gotten around to it.

I just don't comprehend complaining about a camera angle unless it's hampering play. That's how I think, but whatever. I need to try and play those MM Zero games too. This topic definitely is putting me into a Mega Man mood tooCFFJR wrote:When did he say it was difficult?Gamerforlife wrote:Are you serious? That part's so easy. Even the video shows that. The whole game is pretty easy actuallyXeogred wrote:On the subject of X7 again, there is so much wrong with this camera angle it's not even funny:
Come on guys, if you want to bash MM X 7 bring up something worth bashing. That's why I don't understand a lot of the hate the game gets. It gets bashed a lot for silly things like this![]()
I'm pretty sure he's complaining about the third person camera angle.

X1-3 worked the same way. X4-5 let you save right up to the boss marathon, but you had to do it and the final bosses without going back to stage select.MrPopo wrote:Well in Sigma's case you could go back to Armored Armadillo's stage and refill your lives and sub tanks in the opening between each Sigma stage (I don't remember if it worked that way in the sequels, as I didn't play them 30 times through).
As for stocking up on health and lives, X2 had Bubble Crab's stage(Flame Stag if you want to be X-Buster purist) and X4 had Frost Walrus's stage. I completely forgot where I stocked up on lives in X3, and X5 had infinite lives.

They're pretty dang short honestly, and I'm probably even taking longer than some people might... or maybe not. But so far I cleared both games in about two hours, and one of those hours in the first game was spent grinding for e-crystals.CFFJR wrote:Wow, that was fast.Xeogred wrote:Beat Zero 2.![]()

Popo was totally right that there was no need to grind at all in Zero 2, so hopefully Zero 3-4 are like that as well. In fact I was overloaded with e-crystals and the only cyber-elves I bother to use are the health upgrades and E-tank ones. They do a lot of stuff like change enemies into other stuff or items, weaken a bosses health, save you from pits/spikes, heal you (these I used sometimes), etc, but yeah. I just don't even bother with 90% of them, lol.
I missed a lot of stuff in Zero 2 though like these "forms" for Zero that change your attacks and such, I take it getting them depends on your rank perhaps or how you take out bosses, no idea. But yeah I'm just kind of burning through these games and not really going the extra mile to do everything. Anyone know if I'm missing out on extra endings or anything? I saw the bit after the credits in Zero 2 though.

No secret endings or anything. But getting everything might feel accomplishing.
I'm just surprised a lot of you haven't given the Zero series a shot yet. Great series, one of the best on the GBA in my opinion.

I think (as discussed earlier) might slight apathetic attitude about Zero maybe held me back all this time.
, that and I remember the first few times I tried out the first game some of the art turned me off. I still don't love Zero's new look here and all, but oh well. It's different than the other series, so it doesn't hurt.
Hilariously lame complaints, but yeah it's been a long way coming.
And so yeah... think I might start up Zero 3 tonight, since insomnia and all. lol

The forms are gained by repeating a specific action a certain number of times in a specific level. One of them is to kill a certain number of enemies with jump slashes. The form it gives you gives you the spinning jump. That's how I went through the game; I got it during the intro level and used it the rest of the game.

WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY THIS EARLIER!MrPopo wrote:The forms are gained by repeating a specific action a certain number of times in a specific level. I only got a few of them. The "X" form, some deflecting form... and the one I used throughout the entire game was the gray one which gave the third slash with the sword an upward slash, it was a bit faster and stronger than Zero's regular form I think, so I just stuck with that one.
That's weird I never got that spinning jump form though, since I did kill tons and tons of enemies while jumping in the air and mainly used the sword.
