If Batman & cast were D&D characters...
Re: If Batman & cast were D&D characters...
I love looking at Joker and Batman as two sides to the same coin. They wouldn't know what to do with their lives without one another.

They kind of explored that in Dark Knight Returns. I also loved how the movie Batman: Under the Red Hood really put the question to Batman. Why doesn't he just kill Joker? Jason Todd made a good point about how Joker just keeps killing the longer he is allowed to live and he didn't understand Batman STOPPING him from killing the JokerXeogred wrote:I love looking at Joker and Batman as two sides to the same coin. I think there's always been an underlying theme in Batman. He's just this close to being as insane as the people he fights and Joker seems to wish he could push Batman over the edge.
Of course, there's also the idea that Joker represents chaos and Batman represants order. I've always liked that

Yeah that's what I was getting at. I think Arkham Asylum (the game) even hit upon this as well. When you think about it, a rich billionaire with chronic insomnia and a hidden underground base in caves spends his nights dressing up as a human bat to fight criminals. It's like, Batman isn't exactly right in the head either to some extent. Heh... so yeah basically what you said. And Joker just wants to make him snap.

All that said, I'd suggest Mutants and Masterminds if you ever wanted to play as Batman in a pen-and-paper game. It runs off of a heavily modified d20 system, and while it has more holes than swiss cheese, is deliberate designed as such so that you can simulate heroes of any power level.
But since we're dealing with D&D specifically, I guess I'll go with that. Batman obviously took a few levels in rogue, mainly for the skillmonkey factor. He probably took at least 1 level in monk for the increased unarmed damage as well. He has high INT, WIS, and DEX, but average-to-low CON as he gets knocked out or has a concussion every other issue. As said before, Bats is every alignment. 4th edition Batman is a rogue with multiclass feats for monk. All the Robins and Nightwing follow the same template.
The Rogue's Gallery- Bane and Killer Croc are barbarians, Mr. Freeze is a True Neutral Sorcerer with Evocation focus, Poison Ivy is a dryad druid. Scarecrow could be a Neutral Evil Beguiler with a focus on fear powers. Joker's a rogue as well, though more trap/poison/CHA focused.

I read somewhere that you can tell more stories with Batman than any other super hero. I guess this kind of proves thatAmishSamurai wrote:http://alzrius.files.wordpress.com/2010 ... gnment.jpg

Have you seen that Justice League movie where they met the Justice Lords? Though in his world that would be correct that Joker & Batman are polar opposites, but for some reason, the thought of Batman & Owlman is more extreme, but I'm sure fewer people would know who Owlman is.

I just read Batman: The Killing Joke recently. That book contrasts the similarities and polar opposites of the Batman/Joker relationship quite well.AdamGomez1987 wrote:Have you seen that Justice League movie where they met the Justice Lords? The way I viewed Owlman in that movie was as a more cerebral version of Batman, but devoid of emotion. He's cold, calculating and brilliant, but he has no heart. So everything he does is based solely on logic without morals or ethics. He tries to destroy the universe because he believes that there is no point to human existence, which a character devoid of emotion would think. He's a pretty scary dude. His whole world view if based on cold logic and facts, like a machineAdamGomez1987 wrote:Have you seen that Justice League movie where they met the Justice Lords? Speaking of that movie, I never understood that line where Batman says that he and Owlman both stared into the abyss, but Owlman blinked. You see people quoting it on various sites and forums, yet nobody discusses its meaning. So naturally I assume that these people don't even know what this quote they love to use even means
