Finding a new girlfriend would be nice, but at the moment I think I would rather just get laid.

My mental health has also suffered in the last decade, particularly lately, so I am finally beginning to seek help.

Yeah, do the relations thing, its cool - but best to avoid any sort of any actual relationships right now - the stuff your going through often leads to forced partnerships and eventually theres a good chance you realize you only were with that person for convenience / loneliness / and in the end guilt. And then you are the one hurting someone else perhaps.

Def. get checked out though if you yourself are actually recognizing mental health issues - that is a great thing in your favor, recognition. It is scary how powerful a minor change in our brains chemistry can skew our perspective, and thus our personality and out look on life. Simple things like exposure to sunlight and intake of water can affect your body / brain's chemical makeup, so its no wonder what certain medications can do for folks.
