so I burn my DC games with DiscJuggler. I use the guide found here -- so I set it to 16x speed (which is actually much slower than 16x since it's a trial version of DJ). Even though it tells me that my disc was created successfully, the discs only seem to work about half the time. Actually, maybe even less than half. This morning I burned one disc that worked fine. And then I burned three that the DC told me to insert a disc. Any ideas? I believe I'm using version 6 of DJ if that means anything. Oh and I'm using Win7 (64) if that helps.
EDIT:
hmm. Still having issues. And I've wasted like 6 CDR's now. I feel like *some* CDI's won't work when I burn them in IMGBurn, but work fine when I burn with DiscJuggler. And then *some* it's the other way around. No rhyme or reason. Just super annoying.
I'm curious what program and what settings most of y'all use to burn yr DC games?
DC burning help?

Re: Problem with DiscJuggler
I think your discs are likely fine. It's the dreamcast most likely.
A friend of mine gave me his DC before setting off on the Appalachian Trial and I burned a ton of games for it. I think the first 10 games I burned didn't appear to work, I thought I had done something wrong, but after getting a couple games to work I went back and tried all the others and they were now working.
I think the laser has to be in the right mood....

Re: Problem with DiscJuggler
Try writing the images with ImgBurn, or pirate/buy DiscJuggler. It's probably writing your discs too slowly.
Once upon a blue moon, there used to be some validity to burning things at insane speeds, like 1x, 2x, 4x. These days, burners and discs perform very poorly at those speeds. Keep your minimum burn speed to 8x if you feel you must go slower, but there really is no point in this day and age.

I don't think it's my DC because discs that burned fine play every time. Discs that don't play never play.

I got the newest IMGBurn and added the CDI driver and it let me start burning. And then halfway through I got an error message saying it was an unsupported image file.

Re: Problem with DiscJuggler
irixith, you were right about speed. Retried IMGBurn again at 4x and it burned no problem. I had it set to 1x from burning PS1 games.
Re: Problem with DiscJuggler
Where is this CDI driver you speak of? Link please! I never heard of it before. But if it works, I'll have to test it out and add it to the guide I wrote.noiseredux wrote:I got the newest IMGBurn and added the CDI driver
If you got ImgBurn working then I guess that's that. But just so you know, Boot Dreams is a free program that burns CDI images easily.

Re: Problem with DiscJuggler
I think it'd be better to download it from ImgBurn's site so you can be sure you've got the latest version: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(if you scroll down there's a link to download the CDI driver direct from Padus).
You just have to extract the zip from Padus into ImgBurn's root directory in the program files folder.
Why... WHY didn't I know about this until now?

TuxTheWise wrote:Dream Resurrection or DCRES is a project maintained by TuxTheWise. The goal is making high quality releases, caring about dummy (faster loadings), file order (GD or custom that makes loadings faster and reader noise quieter), downsampling (the best quality with available space) and selfboot. Please always see readme files of each game, they always have important information. Feedback? Suggestions? Problems? Fell free to send a PM.
