A short leave of absence

Post by Ack »

Hi fellas.

It pains me to say this, but I feel I must make a temporary leave of absence from the website. In the last week, I've made some startling discoveries, and events have transpired which have a major impact on my life. Last Sunday, after 7 years, my grilfriend dumped me. I am in the midst of moving to Atlanta, GA, as a consequence of this event.

To add to the issue, 3 days after leaving me, she agreed to date a former best friend and roommate. Currently they are in Birmingham, AL, for 3 days together. I discovered Friday morning that before breaking up with me, said ex-girlfriend and former friend had both admitted to liking each other a lot after considerable drinking. In fact, she was apparently so drunk, she was unable to come home until 12 hours later than expected so she could break up with me. In a rage, I vented my frustration by punching a refridgerator, and my hand is now broken. I've also moved in with my mother while I prepare to leave town.

I plan to attempt turning my life around, as it has been shit for several years now, starting with a new job, new city, new home, and a new car. Finding a new girlfriend would be nice, but at the moment I think I would rather just get laid. My mental health has also suffered in the last decade, particularly lately, so I am finally beginning to seek help.

I'll check back in from time to time, but I don't know when I'll be posting regularly again.

Don't fret, Ack. That sounds like some heavy stuff to deal with. Get your house in order and take all the time you need. You got a website full of buddies that are here for you.

If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. I look forward to your return.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Actually a decent-paying job would be nice. I want to save up some money and begin investing in several international markets while also setting up a retirement account for the distant future, amongst other financial manuevers. It's time I focus on me, the rest of the world be damned.

Thanks for the kind words though, Flake. I'm glad to know I have friends.

Best of luck with everything, Ack. I admire your honesty in sharing your situation with us. You're one of the most level-headed guys here, and your presence will be missed while you get yourself together.

Best of luck, Ack.

It's encouraging that you're trying to turn around your life, as you seemed to be in pretty bad shape for a while now.

I'm actually doing the same thing, as I had some pretty rough things happening in life for a while. I sought help, went to therapy and, like you, I'm preparing to move and overturn things.

I'm sure it will work better for me, as it will for you.

I'm in a similar boat, Ack. My fiance and I have split after 3 years and I am now back with the rents.

I'm sure you will be able to turn this around and make a positive outcome for yourself! It takes a strong person to get through what you're going through, but an even stronger one to seek the help!

Best of luck!

I'm really sorry to hear that man. That is a lot of shit to deal with. I wish you the best of luck, only because it is the most I can give.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

I hope you'll be back soon, your posts tend to be well though-out and intelligent.

I wish you the best of luck, that's some really harsh stuff. Don't forget that life always throws stuff like this not to just destroy us but to become better people  .

We will always support here.

P.S. The Ring is pretty awful
