Datels new 360 controller

Post by fastbilly1 »

So Datel might have finally done what programmers have neglected this generation. Their new controller, the Turbo Fire Evo, while made for cheaters has a neat function. It will let you remap all the buttons of the 360 controller on the fly. Thats right boys and girls, you can finally remap all of the buttons, something that should be standard on games, using this third party controller.

Sadly they are sold out everywhere, and there is no mention on if you can remap the sticks (though the fact that the controller itself is upgradeable via a PC leads to hopes that it will be eventually).

I am very excited about this, but upset it came out NOW instead of 4 years ago.

I have two concerns --

1. It looks really cheap. Like purchased at the dollar store cheap. That makes me worry about the build quality -- and as someone with many broken Datel products, well..

2. It's unofficial. That means if Microsoft is so inclined, they can block it with a dash update like they have for other unauthorized controllers.

Other than that, the customizability is welcomed. If it has a better d-pad, it'd be a pretty strong contender. The 360 sorely needs a controller with a better d-pad.

irixith, I am concerned about both points aswell. Which is why I will be buying only one when I get the chance. However the second point is less of a concern because the controller itself seems to be upgradable - just like the xim3.

I'm definitely into trying new 360 controllers, especially ones with nifty new features. I bought the Razer Onza Tournament Edition, and never have I been more disappointed with a third party controller. I've probably sunk more $$ into controllers for the 360 than games at this point.

I wanted to buy this one, what's wrong with it?

I gave up on the idea when I paid close attention to their d-pad. What the hell is that even supposed to be? It's like people have been living under a rock for 20 years, they can't seem to get the stupid thing right.
